And IMO, Superman works best when he's THE hero, not part of a team or an otherwise crowded comicbook continuity.

And yet he's been a core member of the Justice League many times over the decades. We've already had several shows where Superman (or Superboy) was the only hero on his world -- plus one (Smallville) where there were a bunch of other heroes but technically no Superman. Might've been nice to see them actually try it a different way for a change.

True enough, certainly. But I always enjoy his solo books far more, most of all when they feature no guest heroes (outside of those who are themselves members of the Superman Family, e.g., Supergirl or Steel) or crossover story elements.

It's not just that I prefer a rich interconnected universe, but also that the Arrowverse is the first time it's been pulled off successfully in American live-action superhero television. And, again, it's frustrating that they went to all the trouble to merge the universes in the Crisis and never really did anything with it -- and indeed have now gone in the opposite direction, with the three surviving DC shows on the network all being in separate realities. Although CoIE was an impressive achievement in itself, it feels like the whole thing was kind of a wasted effort otherwise, with the potentials it set up being squandered afterward. Wasted potential and missed opportunities make me sad.

My main takeaways from "CoIE" were the many delightful cameos (as a Smallville fan, the scene with Welling and Durance was a particular treat, as was Routh's return as Superman, but really they were all great fun), as well as the way it established the idea of a true multiverse in a way that had never been done before in live-action (though subsequent productions have made it almost a commonplace). Merging the Earths was not a thing that especially mattered to me one way or another. But again, YMMV (and obviously does).

If only Star Trek Producers / "Power That Be" could admit that there is more than 1 Prime Universe, that would solve ALOT of Continuity headaches and make ALOT of people happy =D

They obviously haven't been dealing with the countless fans talking about the inconsistencies that "Nu Trek" has created that counters "Old Trek".

That could all be solved by saying that there is more than one "Prime Timeline" due to Timey Wimey interference and Timeline divergence.

Bam, problem solved.

Merging the Earths was not a thing that especially mattered to me one way or another.

I never wanted them to do it at all. But they did it, and they made a huge deal out of it, so that made it incumbent upon them to make it serve a purpose. And due to the pandemic and other factors, they were never really able to do that.

Superman & Lois was greenlit specifically because of the positive response from audiences to Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsy Tulloch's performances as the Earth-38 versions of Clark/Superman and Lois, and the conclusion of CoIE as it pertains specifically to Clark was meant to be setup for the series.

The fact that the showrunners of Superman & Lois took away the entire premise behind the show even existing is bad enough on its own, but things become even worse because they weren't honest about the fact that it was no longer about the versions of Superman and Lois that audiences actually cared about.

The finale was the most watched episode since s02e03, so that's quite a long time. Might mean the audience has finally stabilized. And as we know, CW shows do have auxiliary revenue streams.

It does certainly explain why Supergirl didn't get called in for all the El family drama, or why he didn't call her, Martian Manhunter and other heroes when they were being attacked by an army of Kryptonians, and why we didn't hear from any of them when the entire planet started merging with another...

I care about these versions plenty. And at this point, we've actually spent a lot more time with them than we have with their Arrowverse counterparts.

I'd still love to see a flashback of the Earth-Prime Superman teaming up with Warren Christie's Batman (or at least Bruce Wayne) sometime before he disappeared. That's the sort of thing the Crisis should've made possible, but we'll never get to see it.

I got the feeling they were expecting cancellation with this season too, because whereas S1 ended on a "there's more to come" with Bizarro, this season ended with most everything wrapped up and on note of some finality.

We ARE getting a 3rd season though, but I appreciate the effort.
