Spoilers Sybok

Probably. Probably pays well.
Probably doesn't pay as much as a feature film movie role in a JH Abrams Star Trek film. I doubt his agent would be interested as it would dilute is earning ability with respect to Star Trek ( IE he's willing to take less money to play a Star Trek series roll as opposed to a feature film roll.)

You're not going to be seeing any of the cast from the proposed j.j. Abrams Star Trek 4 film appearing as another character on Strange New Worlds.

It would just be very expensive stunt casting, and probably not conducive to using the character a lot in SNW Spock's character arc.

Why not?

Quinto works in television pretty regularly. I doubt that would be the case if pay were an issue.
William Shatner worked in television quite a lot during the times that he did Star Trek feature films. However, when it came to certain characters, there was a certain price point that his agent maintained.

That type of situation would be the same for Zachary Quinto when it comes to anything Star Trek or Spock related, especially given that contract negotiations for a fourth j.j. Abrams Star Trek film are ongoing.

Given the probability that Sarek was bonded at the age of seven (and why would he not have been?), his bond-mate would be Sybok's mother. They never formally married; Spock confirmed that Sarek fathered a child out of wedlock. It's also within the realm of probability that Amanda didn't come along until much later, allowing for what could be a considerable age difference between Sybok and Spock. Plus, Sybok may well have been grown and gone before Michael ever entered the picture given onscreen evidence (or lack thereof) in various flashbacks. I doubt there was ever much of a familial relationship between Sybok and Sarek's "other family" at all.

On an adjacent topic, I demand that Sybok be played by Zachary Quinto. That is all.

I thought that STV:TFF implied that Sybok and Spock were relatively close in age. Spock said that after Sybok's mother the Vulcan princess died, "Sybok and I were raised as brothers." Also, before revealing that Sybok was his brother, Spock described him as "a young student" whom Spock knew when he himself was in his youth. Of course, we do need to consider the long Vulcan lifespan, and that in ENT T'Pol was still considered by other Vulcans to be rather young and inexperienced at the age of sixty-something.

Another thing that we know about Sybok from TFF is that, years prior to TFF, he was banished from Vulcan because "he encouraged others to follow him" in embracing emotion. As Spock said, "the knowledge and experience he [Sybok] sought were forbidden by Vulcan belief." Now we see that whatever Sybok has been up to, it's been enough for him to be considered a criminal under Vulcan law, and gotten him locked up in a criminal rehabilitation facility to be indoctrinated in Logic.

As for casting, do we know who played Sybok in the brief appearance of the back of his head? I didn't watch the end credits.

^ The long Vulcan lifespan was the basis for my suggestion that Sybok, Michael, and Spock may not have been raised together as a family unit. A young rebellious Sybok could well have been exiled by the time Sarek and Amanda adopted Michael.

Sybok's absence in flashbacks is meaningless. Robert Picard wasn't seen in a lot of young Jean Luc flashbacks

Almost as if the writers forget Robert existed. That was a pretty major event to have Robert missing from. Then ae, all we have are the faulty memories of an elderly man in an android body

Jean Luc's flashbacks in "Picard" were the highly subjective memories of a traumatized boy. The "Discovery" flashbacks of Sarek's household were presented as objectively real. I do see your point. It's fun to speculate.

You didn't read the entire post did you? The reason is there and it's pay related.
I did read it but I don't think the reason given is entirely accurate. We have no knowledge of a future film project, which means that Quinto saying yes to casting would mean he actually gets paid, vs. whatever Paramount is doing.

It'd be kinda dumb to turn down two good paying jobs with the same production company.
Especially when there'd be no conflict between the jobs.
Both would schedule around his availability.

Meeting his price would be the only potential stopper.

I can't remember if it was already discussed somewhere, but to answer my own question about if we know who plays Sybok for that brief moment when we see the back of his head... apparently we don't know yet. IMDB doesn't list an actor for the role, and Memory Alpha says "Unknown performer."

T'Pring: There must be some mistake! He's not ready yet. He can't be cleared for release!

Stonn: But the paperwork is all here, signed by a Federation doctor himself.

Sybok: So long!

T'Pring:

Doctor: You know I only signed your release forms so you can help me take down a man we both want out of the way, Captain Christopher Pike.

Sybok: I am at your service Dr. Boyce.
