Spoilers 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' series [Spoiler Discussion]

Was the padawan in the crypt one of those in the first scene of the first episode?
Quite possible. Two of them appear to have the same outfit and are about the same size, and the one standing on the right after Master Velti was killed looks to have the same face. Hard to be sure though what with the helmet and the differing angles & lighting of the two shots.

Watching episode 4 and I kept expecting Leia to say that they were on Dantooine. :)
It was okay but I want to some more Hayden. Seems like a waste to have him in the Vader suit. That’s boring.
Are we supposed to know who those people were in the basement? I didn’t recognise any of them

Uneven episode--and there's only two remaining in this series, so...

Good:
The expected sub-plot of Obi-Wan shaking off the rust of not using the Force, slowly, but surely regaining his formidable strength / connection to it.

Tala not dying, which was repeatedly teased throughout the episode.

Leia bonding with Obi-Wan is the obvious contrast to his not being able to even speak to Luke--the child he dedicated his life to protecting. I would hope that Obi-Wan finally has a face-to-face with Luke at some point in the time left to this series (other than the finale)...

Not so good:

Leia now knows who Obi-Wan (or "Ben") is, yet this awareness--and relationship is not evident in her holo-message sent to Obi-Wan in Star Wars; the way she points out that "Years ago, you served my father in the Clone Wars" always sounded like she never knew Obi-Wan at all, but was informed (by her father, obviously) to find this person during the war / crisis over the Death Star. Leia is not an infant; at 10 years old, she's old enough to retain so memorable a series of events (such a being kidnapped, fleeing the Empire, Inquisitors--and her bond with Obi-Wan) for the rest of her life, so it does not line up with the way she addresses Obi-Wan in Star Wars. Some will cite the detention block rescue where she recognizes/repeats "Ben Kenobi" as the link to this series, but that holo-message was a personal plea, yet gave no indication that she ever had a close relationship to the man.

Christensen. Sigh. the way he walks in the costume looked like innumerable Vader cosplayers i've seen, not at all like the strong, purposeful stride created by Prowse.

Interesting:

Vader's freakish mausoleum of Jedi; one would hope he never says he erected that out of some form of guilt, since ROTS made it clear he resented all Jedi, their beliefs and existence--all a threat to his worldview and adopted faith of the Sith.

Are you suggesting she needs a decoy? Or she is a decoy?

If it’s the prior, probably. The later on the other hand would be highly unlikely based on her interactions with Bail in Part I.

It can be explained. Obviously the creators of this show took into consideration what occurred in the originals and wrote a story that would jive with the OT.

The Empire were hunting Jedi. And any Force sensitive people. It's possible she being the good rebel she is, would not let on she knew Kenobi even in a message like that. Or at least not let on she knew where he was. It could have been intercepted. This way it just looks like a desperate attempt. Also, the phrase she used could have been a predetermined code phrase to let Kenobi know, now's the time. Just pure speculation mind you, but just some examples to explain this. And none of that may be revealed yet in this story. It could be in a later Leia series which I hope we get.

They may make it appear at the end of this series the kenobi has died.

The one thing that doesn’t really work yet for me, is that Leia at some point should have bonded with Luke over their common loss of Obi Wan/Ben.
He clearly displayed grief, while she never showed a direct reaction.
The way out of this, is that she never actually met him on the Death Star and only saw him very briefly from a distance.
The rest of the film takes place within hours in high crisis mode with the only downtime on the way to Yavin which focuses on Luke alone.
If they have bonded, it was entirely off screen.

Leia met Obi-Wan when she was ten. A lot of things happen to normal kids between ten and nineteen. Just imagine if you were royalty, a politician and a resistance leader? She shows remarkable poise in most situations here, standing up to Vader and Tarkin in ANH and despite an initial emotional reaction, she is able to pull herself together pretty quickly when Alderaan is destroyed. Leia has emotional IQ that Luke does not have. That much is obvious from the events of ANH.

Rip Tera Sinube

Was fucking amazing.
I think TROS is the worst star wars film ever made. I’d rather rewatch Nemesis and Insurrection back to back then experience that movie again.

Im not a sequel trilogy hater, TLJ is my second favourite film of the Skywalker Saga, and I rate TFA higher than the prequels.

TROS is an almost total garbage fire with just a handful of good scenes to attempt to redeem it. I don't love TLJ but at least it has a reason to exist and a coherent storyline with a beginning, middle and end and doesn't feel rushed.

I'm not getting the criticisms. I found the pace and action of this episode to be great, and a proper build up for the final episodes. I do agree that the relationship Leia and Obi Wan are building makes her holo-message in ANH seem a little weird, but perhaps I should just enjoy this for what it is. I'm really bummed it's such a short series.

And... Snowspeeders!! :D:D

I really enjoyed this episode a lot. I like that we got a classic rescue mission and it was great seeing Obi Wan get his Jedi mojo back. I loved that he used his light saber to block blaster blasts from the Storm troopers and then used the Force to hold the water back.

It was mighty convenient that Vader only showed up when it was all over. And Reva is lucky she placed the tracker or Vader would have killed her. It was also a bit silly that Obi wan was able to walk out wearing an Imperial coat with Leia hiding underneath and nobody noticed.

I do hope we get a Reva versus Obi Wan light saber fight.

Incidentally; I think we're officially out of trailer footage, so there's no telling where the show goes from here. Honestly I'm surprised assaulting Fortress Inquisitorious wasn't the finale set piece!

Leia's reaction to Ben's death is to console Luke. Her first instinct is always selfless compassion, which tells you everything you need to know about her and why she could have been every bit the Jedi Luke was, if she chose that path. Of course how much of that is her trying to avoid having to deal with her own crushing grief is another question, but this show does add a little extra context to that scene.

Please note I was calling Palpatine's return "fucking amazing, not all of TROS. I do enjoy the film, and still rank TPM below all of the ST.

The return of the one, true Emperor was a treat. But then he went and spoiled what I had assumed was going to be the greatest space battle in cinema history.

This episode was okay - obviously a step down from last week and more a bridging episode to what will likely be a cracking two-part wrap up.

As for Leia, I've been assuming from the get go she doesn't remember any of this. Hadn't given it a second thought until reading some comments here. I mean sure, you could *make* it fit, but as it was presented in ANH, Leia was reaching out to her father's ally, not a man she personally knew who had previously saved her from the clutches of the Empire.

Creating a message for a hunted Jedi--specifically that Jedi was all that was needed to charge Leia with having some association with him, but the Kenobi series has Leia having a far deeper relationship with him. From the perspective of Star Wars, there would be no need for Leia to sound so distant / formal if they knew each other as well as this series tells us.

It could have been intercepted. This way it just looks like a desperate attempt.

A desperate attempt--in recognition of the state of the galaxy at the time of Star Wars--would be Leia contacting some Rebel faction for help, not a Jedi the galaxy assumed was dead (which is what Tarkin believed).

Throw in TLJ and i'm sold.

I’d rather rewatch Nemesis and Insurrection back to back then experience that movie again.

They cancel each other out as films that were made by hacks who did not understand (or care to understand) what made the franchise tick, or what the concept was at its best. Each film deserved a mercy flush..to spare audiences of the stench the named films produced.
