For Data fans, "Nemesis" was "the sad and depressing conclusion" - and "Picard" fixed that with some beautiful scenes.
Of Brent Spiner in bad make-up killing himself because reasons?

I've yet to read an interesting utopia. What kind of utopia is that
Shame.I've yet to read an interesting utopia.
For who?Shame.
Really, take your pick.For who?
I see no shame here. I just continue my journey.Really, take your pick.
To be fair, de-aged Q was standing still for thirty seconds or so, which likely simplified the process a great deal.I think PIC's anti-ageing VFX (plus lighting/make up) is pretty hit 'n miss, like they were learning as they went along - it looked good enough with Data's death and chess game, rather iffy when Data was painting his daughter (with a hobbyiest doing better with deep fakes), and near miraculously flawless with Q introduced as looking like he was in his late 30s/early 40s (likely deep fake too).
Don’t we all?I see no shame here. I just continue my journey.
Maybe? Some remain fixated, stuck in a place rather than continuing on.Don’t we all?![]()
All the more reason as an artist to try something new and more appealing to a broader audience. Utopia is by definition appealing — it’s only in its presentation that is becomes not so.Maybe? Some remain fixated, stuck in a place rather than continuing on.
Utopia is not something I've found enjoyable in fiction. I've read, studied, and explored a lot of stories, and genres. The main takeaway is that utopia means different things to different people and few of those appeal to me from an entertainment idea.
I appreciate the invitation; sincerely. Unfortunately, my living situation is not conducive to Zoom meetings at the moment. All the more reason as an artist to try something new and more appealing to a broader audience. But, hey, whatever floats your boat. The weekly Trek Zoom meeting is in about 40 minutes — link will be posted in General Discussion at that time. Why don’t you (and/or anyone) join a handful of diverse fellow Trek/sci-fi fans then, and we can discuss this and/or lots of completely different things?
Camera isn't problematic. It's the kids loudness. The invitation is always open. To all. Nothing is ever recorded and you don’t even need to be on camera if that’s problematic. Meeting also last hours and people come and go all the time, no need to stay for the duration. Usually we discuss the new Trek that week and/or homework episodes we choose, but there’s no pressure to watch any of that either. And the discussions go all over the place (thematically) among our diverse international group.
