Spoilers 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' series [Spoiler Discussion]

He first needs to confront his fears and his trauma and let go of his guilt before he'll be able to find his centre again and achieve balance within.

My wife and I just had a similar discussion. I don't see the contradiction, save for fan assumption.

Personally, I'm not sold on this series as far as a good story but I want to see it play out. Thus far, it feels a bit stretched. But, seeing the day to day of galactic citizens, how people regard the Jedi, and the little bits of world building are really well done. Nice to see Alderaan, and some neat other settings. That laser fence is nasty.

Yeah, so far I see no major issues either continuity wise (which isn't as big a deal as some make it out to be) or thematically. And this is coming from someone that was very much in the "I'd rather he stayed on Tatooine" camp.

Indeed on balance this show actually smooths a few minor continuity bumps created by the PT; "That's an Imperial fighter", "Obi-Wan once thought as you do.", etc. Mostly though I feel like it'll show us why Obi-Wan believes Luke is the "Chosen One" now and why he doesn't believe there's anything of Anakin that's good still in there.

Vader does the exact same thing in ANH as he does in R1.
Get into the mix of things when they become more urgent. Only in ANH it wasn't ground based massacre but space fighter plane equivalent. so, he hopped into his fighter and slaughtered rebels. Until he got on Luke's tail with difficulty to hit and Han surprise attacked him anyway.

Wonder if we will find out why kenobi doesn't appear to recognise r2?
All he said was: "I don't seem to recall ever owning a droid." <gives R2 an amused look> " . . . very interesting."

That's not an explicit lack of recognition, just a statement of fact, which could retroactively be taken as a sly joke aimed at R2 that flew right over Luke's head.
Also: to Obi-Wan droids are droids. There's millions of them that look identical. It's just that we the audience are never shown many with the same model and colour schemes as the hero droid characters for clarity of storytelling. So it's possible he just didn't think anything of a blue, chrome and white R2 unit showing up with a golden 3PO with a Skywalker. It's also possible he did recognise them both straight away but, so what? It's be like recognising your friend's kid is driving the latter's old car. Not exactly worthy of discussion.

Clearly "Obi-Wan once thought as you do" didn't play out the way people thought it would in the 80s, but it still works in the PT, because now Anakin's knowledge of what Obi-Wan was thinking is because Padme told him. So this isn't something the series needs to fix ( nor does it appear to be trying to do so ).

ETA: Out of curiosity I thought I'd have a go at deciphering some of the aurebesh in the Jedi safehouse, and right away hit EU reference pay dirt. Right next to the improvised Jedi Order symbol is scratched the name "Valin Halcyon". Someone on this production must really be a fan of Corrin Horn, as this is the second direct (yet subtle) reference to the character in as many episodes.

Thus far this show doesn't appear to be fixing anything. It's just an adventure.
Good. Stories shouldn't exist only to fix minor continuity dissonances. But if one can naturally work in something that adds depth and greater context to other related stories, so much the better.

DenOfGeek pointed out the Horn reference in their Easter Eggs section - the other two names are characters from the EU novel Children of the Jedi.

Truly hilarious. Let me elucidate you to the reasons why the situations are entirely different.

In ANH, Leia's ship was captured. It was literally INSIDE the star destroyer. There was no urgency! No one was going anywhere! They were captured!

Too easy...

Vader seemed to appreciate the urgency, ordering his men to tear the ship apart.

This.

Yelling "Commander, tear the ship apart until you've found those plans, and bring me the passengers--I WANT THEM ALIVE! " is not a casual remark. He is clearly in a state of urgency--desperate to find the plans, but a certain someone will say anything to support whatever obvious fanwank is needlessly stuffed in a film for reasons having nothing to do with consistency of character, nor did it support R1's plot at all.

IMDb, so take it with a grain of salt, says that Corran and his mother will appear in 2 more episodes.

IMDb also has his mother credited with Corran's mother's name, though she was never named in the episode or end credits. Allegedly IMDb also had her credited before the episodes even aired.

Guys, seriously, can you take the dumb argument elsewhere, or at least get a room. None of you are changing anyone's mind, and the rest of us don't give a shite either way.

That's an unusually coordinated set of easter eggs. What do we think the over-under is that this is some deliberate low-key set-up for the Rogue Squadron movie? Or at the very least leaving the door open in case they do indeed end up using the character?

ETA: Oh and one thing that occurred to me while translating the scratchings; next to the Jedi symbol Reva seems to fixate on are the letters "IKR". Could just be random, but since everything else seems to be names, what if these are initials? Furthermore, what if Reva isn't her given name, but her last name. (See where I'm going with this?) GI did say they found her in the gutter, which means she may have been on the path as a child, but at some point abandoned, or left orphaned again? It might explain the abandonment issues at least, if not the weirdly specific fixation on Kenobi.

Corran would be roughly the same age as Leia, maybe a little younger. So if he takes up flying, he would be in Corellian or New Republic service by the time of The Mandalorean.
