Good(ish) News Everyone. Futurama's Coming Back

He achieved holding up production and loss of this fan's respect. On the bright side, he gained looking like an ass for putting more money ahead of his co-workers, so I guess there is that in his favor.
 Yeah I'm sure he is going to be upset about the few people on message boards or Reddit losing respect for him. 99% of people won't give a shit. Nor should they. Business is business.

If you read the article, you'll see that he says those around him were proud of him for standing up.

And I'm pretty sure a fair amount of fans are also, myself included.

This is awful news. The last time this happened I predicted fans would hate it and they did. They expect every damn episode to be Jurassic Bark now....lmao..

Well, if you get 100 cups of coffee...

One of my absolute favorite episodes, so well played, all. :D

Not this guy. I enjoyed or loved most of the episodes each time it was revived. And there were a few damn good episodes on the same tier as "Jurassic Bark," most notably "The Late Philip J. Fry" and "Meanwhile."

Yeah, I enjoyed most of the revival episodes just as much as the original run.
As for Dimaggio, I respect him for holding out as long as he did.
I didn't follow the link, but I did read IGN's story, and my first thought was that I can't believe I missed Phoenix Fan Fusion. I swear every year, I'm gonna go this time, but I've never made it.

I find that most episodes of Futurama still hold up well for me as long as I'm in the mood to watch whatever particular buttons they push, with some episodes being rewatched more often than others.

In other words, though likely with some exceptions, it could be argued that on balance, even a "bad" episode of Futuruama is still pretty good.

Agreed. The only episodes I ever have a problem getting through are the four "5th season" 4 parters. Not bad stories, just a little too long. Futurama doesn't lend itself to the movie length format.

I haven't rewatched those in awhile, but it's mostly because if I'm going to commit to sitting in front of a monitor for that amount of time there's been other things I wanted to watch more, of late. I did also watch each of them several times previously.

I did a rewatch within the last 2 years or so.

The beauty is, they're short, so it's easy to do 2 or 3 in a sitting.

Turns out John DiMaggio didn't actually get a pay raise, but conceded on his call for better pay for voice actors on ths advice of his agent. This particular nugget from DiMaggio is especially amusing:

“But listen, this was the best thing about that fight,” DiMaggio said, “I had Disney, Hulu, I was holding on to their collective testicles so hard that they couldn’t, y’know, there was nowhere for them to go. But there was also nowhere for me to go, and who wants to hold on to those for that long?”

That's disappointing. It would probably have been a more effective tactic if DiMaggio had organized his fellow actors to all hold out for a larger salary.

Apropos of nothing, but have the creators put a particular spin on the professor's greeting/announcement, Farnsworth saying, instead, "Good nudes, everyone!"?

What sucks is that the versions on Disney+ are the cut down versions made for TV airing.

So there are scenes missing and commercial break cuts. Upside, I got to see some cute bumpers they did for the commercial breaks I've never seen before.

Seriously? People pay for the service and the episodes are trimmed for time?! I can't recall if FXX or Adult Swim "shaves off" footage or not, but one would assume a service that offers everything at once would not be restricted by "time slots".

Vaguely related, I read that "Lilo ans Stitch" was "altered" for Disney+ to have the small child emerge from a cupboard where she had raised a pizza box to hide, while in the theatrical cut, it was a clothes dryer. Or maybe it was the most recent Blu-Ray release. I can't recall, but I have seen a "side by side" sequence showing both versions. So, when it recently aired on the Disney Channel, I fully expected to see the "edited for children's safety" edition. To my pleasant surprise, it was still a clothes dryer.

This is why I'm happy I have the DVDs for the entire run. I actually like most of the season five movies but I would hate to watch any of them artificially chopped up into four episodes each. Yeah, some of them work better than others but it would still be terrible.

Yeah, I've had the reverse problem with the release of BOBW that was combined to make a movie. You expect the dramatic cliffhanger but instead it launches right into Part II, and it's not exactly a seamless transition.
