I posted this guy on here long ago, also talking about Troi. How does his understanding of Trek measure up?

What a weirdo. In real life, one should strive to be like Guinan. Or Q. Q is exciting but off-kilter. Guinan seemed more realistic and down-to-earth. Amazing they weren't married, they're the perfect couple. Makes you wonder what the dealings they had in "Q Who?" were all those centuries ago...

She was probably involved in whatever negotiations compelled the Q to negotiate at all with a corporeal race.

:luvlove:

That's a cool idea! :techman: (I'll admit to being a little cornball snarky on the "they were married"... your idea allows for better plot narratives...)

I had a hard time understanding the post. Perhaps it was translated?

It's funny... I took the name on here because a friend saw Sirtis at a Con decades ago and told me I could cosplay the character. I found that flattering (and still do). But in recent years, I've realized that I am a little like Deanna. I'm fairly empathetic, pretty emotional (when I let myself be), and often act as a "counselor" to friends. (I also have an irrational attraction to tall men with a touch of the scoundrel about them and evil grins, but that's neither here nor there...)

I'd like to "grow up", if you will, to be more like how we saw her in Nepenthe: strong, confident, mature, and a better counselor/friend for the pain she's personally been through.

There's also that whole thing about Betazoid women's sex drive as they get older...

Intelligence is the study of the emotional map of friends. I am not sure why we talk to people who have no desire to be our friends.
Huh??? #1, no that's not all of what intelligence is, & #2... Because not everyone in life is suited to be your friend, but such as it is life requires being in a world where some people will never be, & you still need to intereact with them?

I'm really not making anything sensible from this blog. I think the intent is to suggest that we ought to all strive to be more intuitive when communicating, but it's really a shot in the dark.

I agree with @Commander Troi that this seems like it got filtered badly through a translator.

okay well this is a really strange one. I'm all for tolerance but this guy (and i'm assuming that it's a he here) doesn't seem to understand a lot of things here. Are they planning to wear tight dresses and jump suits, eat a lot of chocolate and wear headbands to work every day in their dynasty-style hair?
Certainly doesn't seem to understand trek in general thats for sure.

If the recent pandemic taught us anything, it's that we could all be less self-centered and exhibit more empathy for our fellow human beings. If that's what this person is advocating, I'm all for it.
