Celia Rose Gooding speaks beautifully.

Also: I never would've guessed that the alien in ep 2 was done largely via puppeteering.

I thought the Alien was CGI the whole time.

I'm surprised they went old school for him and went with practical effects.

I really thought it was CGI that was intentionally trying to evoke old-style puppet work. I think it's great that they went all-out and actually used puppeteering, but they kind of lost the effect by filtering it through so many video distortion effects that most of us assumed it was simply CGI.

The bit about the Khan just made me even more confused about which wars were which. They acknowledged that it all happened in the 1990s, but then used the term interchangeably with "World War III." So what exactly happened in the 2050s? Are they saying that it's all part of a 60-year period of unease?

They did? In the show or Ready Room (the link is region blocked for me: I have to wait until I get home)?

In the 1960's the 1990's seemed really far away. We'll all have jet packs, flying cars, etc, by 2000. I'm okay waving a magic wand over it in support of new stories. Also, a 60 year period of unease seems entirely plausible to me these days.

Yeah, the Khan reference is in connection with trivia and discussion of old stories. It has no bearing on what the show creators are doing now.
