Dramatic license? Yeah the excuse to make the mediocre acceptable. Pretty much what star trek has become with STD and STP.
Yeah pretty much. The turbo fun house and the spote drive were two of the most idiotic things STD has done to damage star treks past.
I would highly recommend to stop watching it. If enough people stop then maybe they will stop making mediocre Star Trek,as you call it.
But, here's the funny thing. Even when people call it "garbage" and "mediocre" they still watch it. And all that tells CBS is that there is a market for it. So, whose the more foolish?
They don't have a Nielson rating which is why the show is still on the service. All that matters is how many people have signed up and watched something on the site. Look at audience ratings for STD and STP. On imdb, rotten tomatoes etc the ratings are terrible. So yeah more people hare them like the shows and paramount knows it which is why Kyrtzman isn't the show runner in SNW. While SNW is in the STD world its still done better and makes STD look like even more the pile of poo that it is. The powers that be listened to fan complaints and we got SNW. So yeah they care and the complaining worked to a degree.

They're not a charity, they want to make money. They will only pour money into shows that increase their profits. Since they keep making more Star Trek, it's fair to say it continues to increase their profits.
Uh huh. Sure they do. But they never release those numbers to the general public. They went a different route for SNW and we all know why.

They went a different route because the plan all along has been for the shows to be different. Picard isn't Discovery. SNW isn't Picard or Discovery. Lower Decks and Prodigy are different too.
It doesn't lose money. If the service is getting new people to sign up it doesn't matter. The service is getting people. That's their bottom line . There are other shows on paramount plus as well as hundreds of movies.
Still, one would imagine there are metrics that need to be met regarding the original programming on the service. Original programming costs money. And shows have been canceled on CBS All Access/Paramount+. Just because we aren’t privy to the threshold a series needs for renewal doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Sure but the existence of SNW makes me think p+ decided the serialized stories aren't working well. Also changing the sets somewhat to get a bit closer to TOS is another thing. Still its quite different from TOS but miles better than STD.
Or, as the producers have said for quite some time and has been mentioned upthread: All the series are different to appeal to different audiences. If suddenly, Disco season five is episodic, then you might have a point. But again, Paramount+ doesn’t care about the format, unless it’s not meeting its own internal threshold.
Kurtzman is still in charge of Trek. So, no the complaining isn't working. I get that fans want to feel like they have control over what happens to their favorite show but this is a stretch.
Also, you even said that SNW is mediocre so it's clearly not working since they are making Trek that isn't satisfying a portion of the fan base.
As others are saying subscriptions are driving this business. Staying subscribed even though it's mediocre isn't teaching anyone anything.
Kurtzman isn't in control of snw. Its obvious he has less to no involvement in the actual production. Its a much better show then the ones kurtznan is showrunner on but still not as good as TOS. Also it's linked to STD and that is a weakness. But all in all the first two episodes are enjoyable but it still seems like an alternate uni.
If they would have not followed STD and restarted with just SNW and have tightened visual continuity more then it would have been better in my eyes but they decided to keep things STD and it still shows. The phasers will still be star wars blasters. The transporters are way more advanced then what we got in TOS. The civilian clothing looks exactly like what you would buy at a Walmart zippers and all. There is more but these things make it mediocre at this point because it seems they are too lazy to even make original clothing for civilian wear like they did in TOS when we did see civilians. Also leather environmental jackets with zippers. They should have used the cage design and also the cage design for the standard uniform. It can't be that hard.

Lower Decks - Showrunner is Mike McMahan
Prodigy- Showrunners are Kevin and Dan Hageman
Strange New Worlds- Showrunners are Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers
Out of the 107 episodes of Star Trek that have aired on CBSAA/P+, Kurtzman has some sort of writing credit on six episodes of Discovery and one Short Trek and the premiere of Picard. (These are primarily story credits.) He took over showrunner on the second season of Discovery following the very public firing of Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts. Michelle Paradise came on by the end of season two. Kurtzman and Paradise co-ran season three and Paradise was the sole showrunner on season four.
Kurtzman oversees the general vision of Star Trek which includes Strange New Worlds and probably gives notes at various points in the production but the overall day to day operation and creative direction of each series is handled by the individuals listed above.
Why? To use a original uniform design is hard. I can't believe that.
SNW he's had the least amount of input. He's given a credit for story but thats it. This could change in the future. He's had way more input in STD especially in the first season and it shows. He doesn't get star trek he gets star wars. Let's just admit that.
