But didn't the Doctor also marry River? I think that's a whole other level on this discussion.
Nope. What you wrote doesn't apply to humans and also doesn't apply to the Doctor. A middle age guy falling in love with a minor is creepy and wrong. You don't have to accept it all. Some can be wrong while others are OK. Same with the Doctor. You either have to be okay with the Doctor falling in love with all of the people they fell in love with or none of the people they fell in love with.
I'm just describing the relationship based on relative lifespans and intelligence. True, only Missy has that explicitly but I think it's accurate. My daughter had pet mice awhile back. They lived for about a year. Or roughy 1/70 of our life. And they had no conception of the larger world outside their cage. What was happening much less why. When has the Doctor ever referred to his companions or humans in general as "pets"? Missy has, I believe, but not the Doctor.
Tell that to Douglas Adams!That's.....no. Mice aren't sentient. Humans are.
It's all relative! But it really has to do with the differences in life experiences and power dynamics. Just like it is in a work place or between teachers and students.That's.....no. Mice aren't sentient. Humans are.
That would be wonderful but I'm also all for her as The Doctor and not just for her name. She's a wonderful actress and has a killer Irish accent. She's great at madcap adventures, too.I kinda want Saoirse Ronan to be announced as his companion now.
Back in February at Gallifrey One, I was in a very small group chat with Mandip and it kind of slipped out then that she might not be leaving in the Centenary special. It started with a slip of her saying that she spoke with RTD and grew from there. It wasn't definite. And it doesn't mean that she's a carryover companion. But she might be in RTD's first episode. It could be more, I suppose.Since Mandip Gill has 'walked back' the certainty of her departure, I want Yaz to become a 'carryover Companion' like Ben/Polly, Sarah Jane, Tegan/Nyssa/Adric, Peri, Mel, Rose, and Clara.
