News Ms Marvel on Disney+ anticipation thread

Her looking up to the previous Ms Marvel is a little odd. I don’t think she’s even been on Earth since the mid 90’s.
I would have had her look up to Black Widow or fellow Inhuman, Daisy Johnson
Yeah, but if they did that she wouldn't be Ms. Narvel, she'd end with a name related to Black Widow or Quake.
When it's the FFs turn, it will still look cheesy, first or not. It works for Groot because he's just growing his branches. For a human character it just doesn't work on the screen. No matter how good the effects might become, it just looks weird on a human.

I'm actually thankful that they're saving Kamala the embarrassment and giving her the visual edge such a silly looking power needs.
Yeah, even the PS4 game is realistic enough that her embiggening is a little off putting at first.

Yeah it's really not an issue of whether or not they will, or even that they should, it's just about how viscerally off-putting it is to see a human body contorted like it was made out of putty. It's fine in a comic, or even animation because it's all highly stylised, but once you get into live action it gets into both uncanny valley AND body horror. That's an especially nasty combination.

It's one of the reasons why I'm honestly not looking forward to the Fantastic 4 showing up in the MCU (the other reason being I never found any incarnation of them interesting.)

I love the character and I like the first volume (we´ve got 2) and this looks like both entertaining and relatively faithfull take. I still haven´t seen Captain Marvel yet and I don´t care about the sequel but I am looking forward to Kamala´s solo.

Did you mean Captain Marvel? Because this is Ms. Marvel, and it hasn't come out yet.

Kevin Feige addressed the change in Kamala's powers in the show in a recent interview. He said the main reason was just because of the differences between what's currently going on in the MCU, and what was going on in the comics when she was originally introduced. So it sounds like the show will possibly tie back into some of what's been on in the recent movies.
I was also wondering if they made her powers cosmic here as a way to give her a more direct connection to Capt. Marvel.

I'm sure that's at least part of it. Also when the character was introduced in the comics there was a BIG push to try and get Inhumans to replace Mutants (because something something something Fox, something something money.) Reading the comics though, her actually being Inhuman means *nothing*, so dropping that aspect isn't really loosing anything, as it really wasn't part of her character save for some BS corporate dictate.

Also as I mentioned a while back in this very thread: from a visual standpoint, this approach is just better for a live action translation.

I've seen some artwork with Kamala with Lockjaw, I don't know if there's any way to work him into the show, but I would love it if they could.
