Ncuti Gatwa is the 15th Doctor

Its kinda nuts that after the bombastic super reveal of Capaldi and the lower-key but still momentous reveal of Whittaker, we got just an written announcement of this sort. Its unique for our era.

That said, lovely, and can't wait to see what's in store for his new upcoming era. The future is here, finally.

He’s very good in Sex Education (which is due to be filming its fourth series at the same time as Doctor Who, so that’s interesting), so a promising choice as far as I’m concerned.

I "discovered" Doctor Who when it restarted with Eccleston. My favorite era was Eccleston-Tenant-Smith. Didn't care much for Capaldi, probably because the writing started going downhill. Only watched a little bit of Whittaker because, again, the stories just didn't do it for me.

Hopefully RTD will bring back some good writing. Writing is more important than the actor in my opinion, but when you have good writing and a good actor, you have a winner! Looking forward to it!

Paterson Joseph (my earlier pick for the Doctor… as far back as when Ecclestone was cast) weighed in with support, and amusingly people were responding on Twitter also mentioning Adrian Lester.

Idris Elba can rest easy for once. Well… he will once they get the next Bond cast anyway. (This is a joke about how people bring the fella up for literally everything. I wouldn’t cast him as The Doctor myself, though he could have made an excellent Fitz type companion for someone like Matt Smiths Doctor.)

Just make him say Detty once please

Great casting choice and hopefully he will get better writing than Jodie.

Now I guess it's on to speculating about the companions.

I wonder if they'll cast someone a bit more known to balance it out?

The other question is, how are they going to treat stories set in the past?

Will they go down the 'Bridgerton' route of a fantasy version of history, or is he going to spend half of every episode getting people to treat him like a human being. (Which he's not, but you know what I mean.)

My guess is that they'll split the difference and will acknowledge racism but it won't be as bad as it really would have been.

For a bloody Yank who has never heard of him, uh, how should one pronounce his name?

If this isn't his look for the show I'll be very disappointed.

Thanks!

"Shoo-tee"

Ignorant fool that I often am, I would have guessed the "Q" might be silent and the rest pronounced as "cutie". At least I won't make that specific social blunder.
