This clip from 2019 immediately came to mind.

Donny, that looks amazing.

I know you can’t answer questions about the project per se, but can you talk about the OctaneRender settings used for shooting the WIP interior shots? I’m building my own (low-poly) TOS bridge for my personal project, and I’m finding that it takes a lonnnnnng time to get noise-free renders. (“Long” is relative I suppose; 8-10 minutes for one 4K frame is still an order of magnitude faster than the same shot on a CPU renderer would take…!) Other than upping the maximum samples and tweaking the noise threshold percentage, is there anything you can suggest to tweak? tia

I saw Doug Drexler post the video yesterday and immediately tagged you!
I've been watching your posts here for years and it's just really exciting to see that come to life in a project like RA.
I'll clarify a few things that are already public knowledge on Twitter and other places, but just to keep them on the record here: NFTs are not involved in this project, and the plan is to not monetize the Archive.
You might not be able to answer this, but how is it being funded, generally speaking?

Hey, peeps! Thought I'd drop a line and show off the video of the work we're doing on the Roddeberry Archive! Lots of stuff I've personally crafted is featured in this video, including all of those Cage sets (except for the underground Talosian corridor that was crafted by coworker Geoff Holman). Towards the end we show off some TMP work, and in the middle of the video there's a cool bridge evolution video I crafted!

Also, a giant piece of white fuzz is on my chin in the couple of interview clips of me shown! My first filmed interview and HOLY CRAP A PIECE OF FUZZ IS HANGING OFF MY FACE :guffaw:

Check it out! Was an honor to see my work behind Bob Butler while he was being interviewed about his direction of The Cage!

DISCLAIMER: I can't really answer any of your burning questions. Please just enjoy the video and trust we're working hard!
Donny, Absolutely fantastic! So happy to see you're doing well and your work is just getting better. Also glad, you're continuing to make this great thread relevant again.

Roddenberry is an early investor in OTOY, and this is one ways the project is funded without it being a commercial endeavor, very much like patronage of museum exhibition, which is how we are thinking of this work in the long term.

Museums usually have deep pockets behind them... wishing you guys the best of luck! Is there any plans for eventual in-person exhibits?

With her hair dyed and in a ponytail she’s the spitting image! I’d like to think that Laurel is looking down in approval. :)

hope so. Laurel’s sister joined as an advisor on the archive and to help guide us and Mahé to bring Colt to life and add as much background as possible from her recollections (which are amazingly detailed and precise) of Laurel’s experience on Star Trek.

Yup, I recognized the deckplans from her unfinished update to Mr. Scott's Guide in the video when they were demonstrating how they're building the refit Enterprise's complete interior.
I love deck plans. Is there a way to see these deck plans?

That brings up an interesting question for me. So far as I’m aware, there are no official deck plans for the refit. The FJ TOS plans are technically not official either, but they’re the closest thing we’ve gotten in mass production that was never C&D’d by Parampunt. The only thing I can find that comes to complete refit deck plans is David Schmidt’s 1992 set. Sadly, not the refit. Is this what you used or did your designs come from elsewhere? I am genuinely curious.
