Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

The trailer shot of Rios and a tearful Raffi coupled with the promo shot with Rios, Teresa, Ricardo, Seven and Raffi not to mention the finale title “Farewell” does not bode well in my opinion for Rios returning to 2401.

Yes, that's what's worrying me!

I would never have brought the TNG crew back into the picture, but then, bringing them back was the idea all along (Sir Patrick said it was always the plan to show where they were in their lives and what happened to them and how time progressed for them, etc) so I guess we can’t exactly accuse them of doing fan service now. At least not unplanned fan service. lol

But ultimately even the TNG crew will mostly be there to advance the plot centered around Jean-Luc, “proper send off” or not. Like I said, this show tends to put the plot before the characters. ;)

So, they are bringing Khan back? LOL.

No, Armus. :D He managed to get off Vagra II and is now out for revenge, looking for Jean-Luc because he left him there to rot. Kinda like Khan after all, I guess… I mean the showrunners HAVE said that season 3’s plot borrows from TOS and the TOS movies, so… hmm… I for one can’t wait for Jean-Luc to scream “ARMUUUUUS”.

Nah, seriously, I don’t know. AFAIK they didn’t specify if it’s a villain we already know or if it’s a new one.

IIRC they said it’s the best Trek villain ever (the usual promotion hyperbole). They didn’t go into details, they just said that there’s gonna be a villain.

I think Mark Alaimo is probably too old to do Gul Dukat again though. He's 79, so a bit younger than Patrick Stewart, but he's basically done no work over the last decade and his voice sounded...really bad...in What We Left Behind (the DS9 doc).

On the other hand, Terry Matalas has said that this season is his tribute to DS9, and has been coy about DS9 characters returning, so...

I think Geordi should have been in Season 1 TBH. He was Data's best friend - and he was also very close with Hugh. It seemed awful to give them both deaths and not have him involved.

I also would have brought back Ro Laran rather than have Raffi, because I think she would have worked just as well in the same story role.

If it's Lore?

Then again, Soongs have been integral to each season so far. Why not the third as well?

Ya know, thinking about that for a second, I’m not sure what they could do with Spiner to not make me yawn. He gave a good farewell to Data and had the rather forgettable, Alton, now we have a moustache twirling, scene chewing Adam in season two. I think Lore could maybe lead that way if they could make him interesting, but I’m not really counting on that.
