So, apparently there's some speculation (likely tabloid twaddle) that James Corden's departure from The Late Late Show might mean he's moving to a role as the Doctor...

Well he wouldn't be my first choice to play the Doctor. In fact he wouldn't even make my top 100.

He's the new Kris Marshall. RTD wouldn't do that to us.

Gods, I fucking hope not. His two episodes are the only ones of the Matt Smith era I skip. If he became The Doctor, I would start sounding like the anti-Chibnall folk here.

Stephen Colbert (not Jon Stewart, I couldn't tell them apart) wished him well in his new role as the Doctor as a gag in response to his announcement. Corden's not actually leaving the Late Late Show until next year, and 14 is already filming, so, forget him. Thank fuck.

Well, RTD's first Doctors do only seem to last a year. ;)

Maybe he's a real time traveler? He has to have some sort of strange powers for people to keep employing him all these years.

I like James Corden, but no, he can't be the Doctor. I just don't see that at all. At. All.

I honestly really, really like James Corden's two Doctor Who appearances. He's been absolute shit in literally every other context that I've seen him, but I liked him in Doctor Who. I'd even be up for seeing his character from those two episodes again, but outside of that (probably very unlikely) scenario, I'd rather he just not be involved.

Hello hello. Is this thing on? What part of "It was a joke.*" are people not getting?

*By Colbert not Stewart, which makes more sense since he's the big SF geek.

The interesting part is Neil Gorton describing it as "the second reboot of Doctor Who".

That’s great that hear. They were badly missed this last season.

Hell, if we're going that way, I'd argue it's the fifth (the Pertwee era being the first).

Sixth, JNT replaced what was essentially the same theme song in a radical way for the first time in 1980!
