Spoilers Is Picard season 2 a failure?

I'm not ready to declare Season 2 a failure just yet. I'll wait until I see the season finale. But I do feel that Season 2 has been a disappointment, one in a way more crushing than the first season. I feel that way because "The Star Gazer" was so compelling that I was excited-for the first time in a long time-to see more ST: Picard. But after that came a slow decline that picked up pace as the season went on. And now I just want it to be over.
Could it not end now?

Even if the finale is perfect and amazing (spoiler: it won't be), how can that possibly make up the other 90% of the season? "I kept wanting to stop watching it for most of the season, but they did a nice job with the finale," is not something you say about a successful show.

I think that the nine episodes would be utterly nonsensical without all the episodes before it.
I think the funny thing is your argument depends on us thinking the show wasn't fun until now. Which I empathically disagree with and I would HATE it if it was different because I like what has happened so far.
Quite honestly I disagree about that in respect to a forum.* I don't think a post "I hate it." without any reasoning is something that is appreciated by anyone. Similarly, a post that states "I love it." without any reasoning is similarly of low interest. After all, this is what we have polls for: if you want to just state how good/bad you find it without giving any detail on it, make your checkmark in the poll of the episode and we see it counted.
The posts that are actually appreciated are the ones that state their reasons and observations for an opinion - because that makes it possible to learn something from it for yourself or add a reply from which other people could benefit from.
* Well to be more concise about the meaning of "need to justify": I don't think it should be disallowed to post a reason-free "I love it." or "I hate it.", I only think that it does not add anything and therefore it is a good advice (not rule) not to do it.
I think the finale has to pick up the ball and run with it. This is where it counts the most.

My favorites are when Raffi has visions (?) of the dead Elnor (I still think he loves her and he wants to be with her).

I absolutely loathe binge-watching and I think this season (and the two most-recent seasons of Discovery) have proven to me that they simply don't know how to tell a season-long story arc in a compelling way. There never seems to be enough story to fill the 10-13 hours they have planned for the season and episodes just feel padded and dragged out. Telling me to look at it as a ten hour movie is ridiculous. What ten hour movie only airs one hour a week?
It only reinforces my undying desire to see Strange New Worlds because I've been continually longing for the episodic format again. Lower Decks does it wonderfully and I felt wholly satisfied each week with a 24 minute self-contained episode.
