But why was Picard surprised she didn't know him?
Also wouldn't she have spent decades feelings things were off like she was living in a altered timeline like she did in Yesterday's Enterprise?
With the timeline restored, I have no doubt Guinan will remember both 19th century and 21st century meetings, thanks to her innate abilities and/or Nexus powers™. Hell, 25th century Guinan probably already did remember, she just couldn't tell JL yet.
Star Trek: Picard is set in a different universe from Star Trek: The Next Generation (A FAR SUPERIOR SERIES BTW). Different characters, different agendas but share the same names, how those revamped characters of Nu-Guinan and PICARD- Q met is only relevant to the nature of the streaming series but not Star Trek: The Next Generation. It is a laughable exercise to attempt to make whatever the showrunners are doing with PICARD and force continuity with a series which was a well oiled machine which spawned a whole new generation of Star Trek fans. PICARD loves nostalgia baiting to keep their streamers hooked on their very soulless narratives, but in the end the follies told there wont have any impact on how viewers perceive Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Whether TNG told its tale better, which THEY DID, does it really alter your opinion on what you accept as Picard's first encounter with Guinan? These newly streaming masterpieces will be forgotten because they don't hold any substance like what was seen on Star Trek: The Next Generation.I made the thread here, because of the implications of this episode for "Time's Arrow". It shows that Guinan didn't knew Q when she met Picard & Co in the 19th century.
By the way, although i'm not sure because of the timey wimey nature of what happened between Picard and Guinan in 2024, it could also at least partly explain the comment by Guinan that she was going through a bad time when she met Picard for the first time...![]()

Forcing the cylinder into a squared shape. If it doesn't fit, try it anyway, and make it fit.It is.
What she told Geordie in "Booby Trap" kinda proofs it. Think Guinan during TNG actually has both sets of memories about when she met Jean Luc for the first time...
I've no idea how the Q and El Aurians had a "cold war" as Guinan describes in PIC. Even with the witch-like powers she's got in PIC, it's a god battling an ant. They must know of some major Q weakness.
From what we know right now, this is not necessarily how events unfold in the timeline when the events in "Time's Arrow" occur.According to the latest episode of Star Trek Picard season 2, "Mercy", it was in 2024. While apparently the things responsible for both not liking each other happened after this date.

Not watching Picard, did they explain why he was afraid of her doing jazz hands or whatever it was in that episode?
It was implied in ST: Generations that she got those powers from being in the Nexus in 2294. So she didn't have that ability in 2024.

I actually put BOTH seasons of PICARD above "First Contact" a movie which cemented my belief TNG movies were set in a different universe because none of what was established made any common sense or correlated with Star Trek: The Next Generation.Agreed, though I still put a lot of PIC/season-2 above the 1996 movie STFC... (IMHO, YMMV.)
