Just an option I was considering.I see you considered one with nacelles above the saucer...That might be a second project.
Thanks a lot!Great design, Love the way how the two engineering hulls are embedded into the saucer, looks a bit like a sunfish with the saucer that way.![]()
LOLI'd build all of them! Would confuse the hell out of the enemies!![]()
That could work, but seeing as this is a starship proposal, I'd have to rethink many thingsLook like station nodules
I could see those blades inserted into the grooves in a fractal arrangement....a space-lane segment...something like this:

These would replace Regula One type stations.
That is all well and good, but... these are starships, not stationsInteresting designs for stations, @Atolm

I will admit, without meaning to diminish your amazing as always artwork, at first look, I'm wasnt personally getting a Federation vibe. Probably because of the lack of some form of circular core or modules (K-7, the orbital TMP station, the same module upside down for Regula 1, and Earth Spacedock).
The Type I especially giving me a Cardassian vibe, due to the vertical sails.
Yet, at the same time, Epsilon 9 in TMP was very horizontal, as was the Argus Array in TNG, so there's the precedent. So these could be science or monitoring stations. Did you have thoughts as to their purpose?![]()
Oops!?That is all well and good, but... these are starships, not stations![]()
Thanks... The first one was my first pass at the whole initial concept (sporting vertical nacelle "blades")...After seeing that the design appeared too busy, I opted for the second, as a more minimalist approach, by integrating the nacelles into the squared-saucer arches, but again felt that the ship looked too simple for my taste, so then came in the third gal...and I am 90% sure this is the way to go,,, but we will seeOops!?
Well, they're definitely different from your typical distinctive Federation designs!![]()
I could totally see that, but to me that would limit my ideology towards Federation starships, and I will counter that with hundreds if not thousands of species within the Federation, forces me to always take that into account. It is a crazy notion that designs would be that "standardized" as it has been presented in show. Also, one must look at the design and say, "What era would this fit?" (26th Century BTW)... I'd never say that the one faction which has shown the most diversity of minds, would have a homogenized fleet.I think I like this concept more as an Alien of the Week (or more weeks) ship; they lack a certain "Federationyness" I guess, but the distinctive X shape would be a great way of identifying this race from a distance, even in several different configurations.
Aye for sureA fine observation about the 'humannes' present in Federation design! I think that this could indeed be a Federation ship from a memberspecies other than humans, because you are entirely right in that design philosophy is usually Earth centred.
Thanks!Cool ship designs![]()
