Game The Most Disliked Klingon Episode/Movie

THE OBJECTIVE: A sudden-death elimination game in which we remove our personal favorite episodes from a themed list, until we arrive at the episode that is, if not the worst, at least the most disliked.

THE RULES: Below is a list of Klingon episodes & movies from TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, DIS, and LD.

Eliminate/save your favorite, or the one you deem the ‘best.’
Post something you love about the episode you are saving, and copy-and-paste the list with your choice removed.

You can use any standard you like to judge which option is "best." You can save episodes for being widely recognized “best Trek” classics, or for idiosyncratic qualities that no one appreciates but you.

But -- no tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you don’t think anyone else will, or because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to “win.”

You can take multiple turns. Leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

New players are always welcome, you do not have to already be a "most disliked game" regular to dive in.

I am going to start with the bottom of the list, one of the greatest Star Trek episodes of all time, "wej Duj." I mean this one just has it all -- it's hysterical, it's moving, it's exciting, it moves the series story forward. I was so into this I was on my feet walking around the room talking back to the TV the first time I saw it. And that is not my normal TV watching state!

It first aired so recently, yet I have easily watched it fifteen times already.

One of my favorite TOS episodes.
Yes, if you read it as an analogy of the Vietnam War, it's flawed, but I don't let our present day perspective get me sidetracked.
The proxy war dynamic under the premises stated in the episode is what makes this one so strong.

A side note, it is hilarious that Discovery had more Klingon episodes over its first two seasons (28 episodes) than TOS did during its entire run (7 over 79 episodes).

Choosing TOS Season 2: “A Private Little War”
One of my favorite TOS episodes.

It has been soooooooo long since I've seen this one, but, as one of the two TOS appearances of M'Benga, it's on my pre-SNW-premiere watchlist.

I'll next save my favorite Trek film, "The Undiscovered Country."

I mean, I generally don't even like the movies (Trek really belongs on TV), but this one is damn near perfect. That ending is so powerful. It's hard to imagine a better send-off for the original cast.

Choosing TNG Season 2: “The Emissary”
This is a marvelous episode, a secret mission and love story combo.
The final goodbye scene is one of the finest transporter room scenes in all of Trek.
It gives us some serialized continuity in TNG and dramatic character development.
K'Ehleyr is a lovely character.
The resolution of the secret mission is very believable.

Saving Trials and Tribble-ations. Overall, I barely consider this one a Klingon episode, but I’ll always enjoy the way it attempts to explain away the differences between TOS and TNG Klingons. “We don’t talk about it with outsiders.” Great bit, I honestly wish they’d left it at that.

Outside of the episode’s Klingon element, it’s just such a warm, clever, and charming tribute to TOS. Kirk and Sisko’s scene in particular is one of my all time favorite legacy moments in the franchise overall.

Saving "The House of Quark" for the lovely, unlikely pairing of Quark and Grilka, for Quark's defiant valor in dropping the bat'leth and daring D'Ghor to kill him, and mainly for the roomful of Klingons scratching their heads at the mysteries of double-entry bookkeeping.

I just rewatched "Ethics" the other day to make sure it felt Klingon-y enough for this list, and I was shocked by how much I liked it. I haven't seen it in years and years, it really isn't in my rotation, but it was great drama. The majority of the cast is so well used... great material for Worf, Beverly, Troi, Riker, Picard, even Alexander. The Worf/Troi connection is also great, reminds me of why they thought they would work as a couple.
