Spoilers Season 3 Cast Announcement

Some of them have had other things going on, but they haven't been mostly elsewhere, as far as I know. Just occasionally elsewhere, for the most part. Isa Briones did an in-person convention and then a few months later went on the Trek cruise, while S3 was filming. Insta shows that Santiago Cabrera spent a couple of weeks on the Flight Attendant set back in the autumn, and also spent Thanksgiving weekend at the Grand Canyon and visited family in Chile over Christmas, which some here have interpreted as 'going travelling' and therefore being unavailable for work, but production would have been shut down for both of those holiday periods and he seems to have been in LA the whole of the rest of the time. Allison Pill has apparently been working on another show, but I don't have details. I'm not sure about Evan Evagora.

He did the Trek cruise with Isa, and did some work on 'The Quarry', a survival game. But the first, like with Isa, may very well depend on what order scenes were filmed in, and the second was likely just line recording.

I don't have a lot of faith in the producers understanding the importance of legacy after S1, but fingers crossed. I like this cast a lot.

Looks like EE did do some mocap work on 'The Quarry' over at Digital Domain.

I thought the timing of the teaser for season 3 was strange - sort of takes the wind out of the sails of the current season IMO
I see it differently. We all know they're getting back to the 25th Century by the end of the season. And based off four seasons of DSC and two seasons of PIC, we also know that the next season would be about something else anyway.

It's a question of how they'll resolve the story arc this season, not if. And announcing who's in Season 3 doesn't really change that. At least not for me, since I figured between this being a three-season show and my belief that eventually we'd see all of the TNG cast before the series would end, that left S3 as the only place to do it. Process of elimination.

Plus on twitter Terry Matalas has teased a LOT more of a Starfleet vessel over the past few months, would be very surprised if it's all from the S2 finale...

And to narrow it down the graphics are definitely the Federation we know, not Confederation

And I very much doubt they'd bring the TNG crew back only to have them as their Confederation counterparts. That does not match with the idea of "a proper send-off for the TNG crew", as Matalas has said. And Jean-Luc in that teaser where he writes that letter or whatever it is doesn't look very "Confed" either. Also, Confederation Picard would probably sign things with "General Picard", not with "Jean-Luc", as he was doing. The whole vibe of that teaser was "TNG nostalgia", not "more nasty Confederation".

Absolutely. Third time lucky? (They say third finale but I never saw AGT as the ending as they literally went straight onto the movies - in fact the Enterprise-B stuff was filming on another stage while AGT was still filming!)

plus (and I know I keep saying this) I was bitter at how Nemesis ended so I'm glad this crew has a final shot at saying farewell. Though saying that if it were perfect I'd probably be asking for them back by now anyway!

I'm looking at this as TNG's Undiscovered Country, with a dash of All Good Things (future segments) and new elements..?

I think this is a good analogy. Season 2 seems to be their version of "The Voyage Home", and with all the hints they've dropped about season 3, it seems likely that it's gonna be their version of "The Undiscovered Country".

I’m also bitter at how Nemesis started and went in the middle. It really gives Insurrection a run for its money as Worst Trek Movie.

Personally, I think Nemesis is worse than Insurrection. Insurrection has its flaws but I still enjoy it a lot. Insurrection has some nice moments. Nemesis is terribly written and terribly directed from start to finish. And Shinzon was horribly miscast too IMO.

It’s a close call. They’re both terrible.

You’re right about Tom Hardy being miscast. It would have made more sense to just have Patrick Stewart play both Picard and Shinzon.

The premise of Nemesis is just terrible. The whole story makes no sense. Out of the blue, a clone of Picard wipes out of the Romulan Senate and has an uber super ship to destroy Earth but also capture Picard because he needs his blood to survive. And the directing and editing of Nemesis is worse. The director cut out all the good character scenes. The movie does not flow well. And of course, we have that horrible mind rape scene with Troi. The premise of Insurrection is actually not that bad: a beautiful idyllic planet is threatened by a race in cahoots with Starfleet who want to exploit its healing properties. Picard sets out to protect the planet. The story flows pretty well. And I believe Frakes directed Insurrection, and he is a good Trek director who did a good job with Insurrection. The main flaw in Insurrection is the bad humor and the excuse to get Picard to commit insurrection is contrived IMO.

Yes,Patrick Stewart playing both characters would have been better if they had really wanted to stick with the clone idea. Alternatively, they could have ditched the whole clone aspect completely and gone with a Romulan with history with Picard like Sela or Tomalak. That would have fit better with the name of the movie, Nemesis. I think the whole clone thing was dumb.

I think that INS is a total betrayal of Star Trek values, which have always been, “When it comes to settling differences, talking is always preferable to fighting.” In this movie, the heroes never attempt to establish a dialog between the opposing factions. It’s just, “We disagree! Lock and load!”

My ranking of the TNG Movies:

"The Best of Both Worlds"
Star Trek: First Contact
Star Trek: Picard
Season 3 (pre-emptive ranking)
"Gambit"
"Redemption"
"All Good Things"
"Chain of Command"
"Unification"
"Time's Arrow"
"Birthright"
"Descent"
Star Trek: Generations
"Encounter at Farpoint"

Did I miss anything? No. I think I got it all.

Okay, okay. I'll put Insurrection and Nemesis in there. Alright? Right underneath "Encounter at Farpoint". You can pick the exact order for me. ;)
