Who doesn't need the D? I mean to see the Enterprise D on screen. Yeah... that's what I meant.
Juvenile humor aside. The D is a much better looking ship than the E. And it's the one most associated with the TNG cast.
Technically speaking both in canon and non-canon, we've had the E-E way longer than the E-D (heh).
The D is iconic and I love it dont get me wrong, but the E-E has superior aesthetics and design and I love it way more, but too bad we only saw it so much less.
It really is a shame they haven't mentioned bringing Will Wheaton back, as this show isn't shy of an F-bomb or two. Who wouldn't want to hear a jolly good "Shut the fuck up Wesley!", preferably shouted by the entire cast, in unison.
They already do: see Mirror Mirror, The Alternate Factor, Parallels, 2009...

Since they have 'canonised' designs from Online I would love them to show us the Odyssey-class E-F.
What did happen to the -E though? Apart from the 3 movies, 'The Star Gazer' was the first time a Sovereign class had canonically been seen on screen. (not counting video games)
I am aware though that since SNW is in production they may not want to focus too much on the Enterprise? Akiva Goldsman said they brought in the new Stargazer as a ref to Picard's history because it's "not the Enterprise"
An yes, just because we have certain cast members announced doesn't ment that others aren't being saved for later on i.e. Wil Wheaton. Could a vengeful Sela be the big bad?

I have my own opinions based on actually watching the show. You're welcome to your interpretation, I have mine.
Hasn't Wheaton stated he doesn't want to play Wesley? And Spiner has stated not wanting to play Data. This reunion probably isn't going to be like the TNG faithful want.

I'm keeping everything crossed this doesn't happen. I hate the Odyssey-class design and feel it just doesn't work for an Enterprise, any more than an Intrepid or Miranda or Defiant would.
Nobody knows (yet). Assuming she's still operational, at the time of Picard's second season the Enterprise-E would be 28 years old – well within the operational lifespan of a starship. The original 1701 was 40 years old when she was destroyed over Genesis, and the original Excelsior served for at least 35 years. Never mind all those Excelsiors and Mirandas we see still active well into the 24th century. And let's not forget the USS Republic, certainly the longest-serving starship we know of in canon – Kirk served as an ensign aboard her in the 2250s and she was still in use as an Academy training ship in the 2370s, though by that point she hadn't left the Sol system in decades (DS9: "Valiant").

Both of the hosts are really good friends of Doug Drexler, they do get insider info.
It's also possible he saw the uncensored version of that Stargazer Bridge picture that Drexler accidentally posted on Facebook and the blurred part of the image is an Enterprise.
