Spoilers Season 3 Cast Announcement

If they did show the Enterprise, the Stargazer bridge is similar enough to the E-E bridge that they could get away with redressing it slightly and it would be the E bridge with 20 years worth of upgrades. Bit like how it was used for the brief glimpse of the Excelsior bridge we saw in S02E01.

As it happens, Doug Drexler posted a behind-the-scenes photo from season 3 last week of the Stargazer bridge set, which he quickly yanked down and redacted, since there's a spoiler in one of the background consoles. It's just blurred, so you can tell that it's the dorsal view of some sort of long-ish standard-shaped starship. Could be a Sovereign. Or an Odyssey. Or any of the various Excelsior and Excelsior-eqsue designs we've seen. Maybe a Vesta. Or something new. But the upshot is that it's playing the bridge of a ship that's apparently not the Stargazer.

I doubt it, it would ruin the character's sacrifice.
If the Picard production team is brining back all of these TNG people, and the Cast Announcement is showing the Enterprise-D - All bets are off as to what may happen.

*It has been (successfully) augured that the Enterprise is a character unto itself.

I'm calling it now: Beverly and Picard had a thing that didn't last, and now Jean-Luc finds out that all this time, Beverly hid the fact from him that he has, in fact, a son. She didn't tell him because he didn't like children, or some other plot contrivance, yadda yadda...

And that does look llike some sort of invitation he's signing in the trailer.

As I've mentioned before, that ominous line in his speech about his family line ending with him set off alarm bells for me.

Is this dream for real? Alan Kobyashi listed twice though, and tweet deleted so is it a faaaaaaaake! :rommie:

OMG!! That looks amazing. Along with the Strange New Worlds trailer, this is probably one of the most exciting times to be a Trekkie!

To all those who are moaning and groaning about TNG 2.0 and "let the past be the past"... I got news for ya. At 81, Sir Patrick Stewart is THE goddamn embodiment of the past, and he's really, really good at it! You all got your new stories and new crew stuff. Now bring me Season 8 of TNG, and give us the proper ending this series deserved. Make up for everything after All Good Things.

And that does look llike some sort of invitation he's signing in the trailer.

Any volunteers to transcribe what he wrote?

I don't get the negativity. I love the Picard characters, but we are talking about the TNG characters. For me, they are bigger than Kirk's Crew. I grew up with them. I was a total nerd in school. I had very few friends and was a loner. The TNG crew was like a family too me. I love my family, but I am not that close to them. I related to the TNG cast than my own family. My family are the successful and all were athletic. I was the black sheep. I am the nerd. And TNG filled a void. Luckily college was better, but even with friends I still watched DS9 religiously. I am damn excited.

I mean what is the difference between the TNG cast coming in to Season 3 of Picard and Riker and Troi coming in against the Enterprise Cast for "These Are The Voyages"? Yeah, Picard knew those characters, but this overshadows the new cast, and that's where I see the comparison.

Well, presumably, Picard is not a hologram program that can be frozen on and off at will for one.

And the original PIC cast might be in spinoff series to continue their stories in the future for another.

I also don't think there will be any contradictions with S2 (like how TATV contradicts S4) and there won't be any nonsensical characters virtually unchanged 20 years on from NEM, like how the NX-01 crew was unchanged 6 years on. That's already been addressed with Riker and Troi in "Nepenthe".

I don't think the PIC writing and production crew would ever imagine being as lazy like what happened with TATV.

I don’t think it is so much the TNG cast, I think it is more that we’re tired of another nostalgia security blanket. Kirk said something a long time ago about too much of anything not necessarily being a good thing.

Add me to the list of people who are excited for the reunion and at the same time concerned about the new cast (or at least several of them) becoming overshadowed by the returning childhood heroes going on what could very well turn out to be a poignant send-off but also a self-indulgent nostalgic joyride. I'll be watching what happens to Jurati, Rios and the others in the rest of this season very closely.

And I really hope they don't resurrect Data again. He wanted to die, let him stay dead, please.

Any news about Brian Brophy? (sorry, had to; EDIT: also, jinxed)
