Spoilers Season 3 Cast Announcement

What would be a bold move would be to kill off a few of these legacy characters before the end of the season. If there was a damned good reason to have them sacrifice themselves for the others and make this a true final chapter for the TNG crew. Can you imagine Worf finally finding his good day to die and being with Jadzia in Sto’vo’kor? Or Riker sacrificing himself to save Deanna and Kestra? But the fans would lynch Matalas. So it ain’t happening.

Interesting news. Wonder how the rest of them will fit in with Picard's new crew?

Star Trek fans are the worst. If you do anything nostalgic or with existing characters, you're failing to forge your own path to make something new. But if you ignore previous characters and situations to make something different, you're pissing on your history. The people who make Star Trek today can't win.

It isn’t like this is a one-off. They went to the 32nd century and still couldn’t resist digging out Spock footage to put in DSC.

It is way too soon to say this. I get that this BBS is for us to react and chew on things but it is way too soon to know what will happen with the existing PIC cast. I would be very surprised if the TNG cast is around for all 10 episodes, and if they are, let's see what the team comes up with before we make judgments.

And we don't know what Paramount is planning post-Picard; this cast may be back. But in the meantime, they do need to work.

Remember the stories about how Paramount apparently floated the idea of replacing Marina Sirtis in Nemesis with Jeri Ryan as Seven when they were at odds over Marina's salary for the film? Even though I'm glad that didn't happen, I was always a little curious about what it could have been like seeing Seven interact with the TNG crew. Definitely never would have thought all these years later that we could potentially be seeing that actually come to pass.

Wil doesn't want to play Wesley again.
Well as long as they honour the original character and don’t recast him. They’ll probably just leave the character out then like they did for the majority of the movies then.

I’m guessing it’ll be Lore. Spiner’s line in the trailer sounds very Lore-ish.

Data died gracefully and had a perfect send off, his character is done with and has an amazing legacy. I don’t think that Brent Spiner is coming back as Data either now that you mention it. I think he even said that Data won’t be back, unless he is trying to trick us!

Maybe Lore…. Or even better Lore teams up with Sela and they have gotten together like Data and Tasha did in The Naked Now, but made it in to something more long term?

I suspect it will be the other way around.

I mean, there's only one villain iconic and dangerous enough to force the whole TNG cast to reunite one last time. They're bringing back Narissa from season 1. This time, it's personal.
Yes, it would be a very personal yawn from me! (Now, B'jayzl, otoh could have worked... )

Crossing my fingers for a half-Borg, half-crazy human Jurati. I think Pill could pull it off.

I hope it's Lore. How else could Data return? He's dead. But Lore is stored someplace. Or will be again when the current timeline is reset/reconfigured.

Plus, bringing Lore back would make even more of a full circle.

Hope we don't have to wait until next year. But we probably will.
