Spoilers Season 3 Cast Announcement

S3 HAS to kick off ala Generations w/ the legendary crew reassembled for the launch of the new Enterprise, right? Set up the next crew and show!

I love TNG, it’s what got me into Trek, but this doesn’t excite me.
More or less how I feel, to be honest. Don't misunderstand, I am not against this idea, and I don't doubt the chance to see the TNG gang one last time is going to lead to a fanboy orgasm or three. But that said, I'm still rather meh to this. I'm not against it at all, but I'm not jumping up and down with pure joy and excitement over this announcement at all.

"We were like warriors from the ancient sagas. There was nothing we could not do."

As someone whose first (and for years, ONLY) Trek was TNG, this is amazing news! These seven people were like another family to me, like people often say about shows like "Friends". TNG was playing on the TV in the background of my baby video where I got my first bath, and I recall vividly my first time watching the show myself and understanding the concept (it was the episode I would come to know as "The Best of Both Worlds"). I am, unsurprisingly, very sad that this will be the last time we see them, but I am grateful for the 32 years they have been in my life, and I'm glad they are moving on past Nemesis into bigger and better things. But as they say, don't be sad it's over, be happy because it happened. I am so excited to see the final mission of the crew of the Next Generation.

Oh brilliant, a Big Goodbye.

I'm happy with a reduced role for Rios, Raffi, Elnor etc if those characters carry on with the torch, a Stargazer show. Having the crew steal the Enterprise E out of spacedock in a quest to stop Lore or something would be awesome, maybe Rios has to chase them down, maybe he sabotages his own ship to do so, etc, with a final sacrifice for Picard.

Exactly. TNG was really my first Trek. But we’ve been there. Done that. We had 178 episodes and 4 movies. I would be content if that was it (and there is a small part of me excited about seeing these seven together again.) Sure, Seven and Raffi will come back (I SINCERELY doubt they’ll kill Seven.) but Rios has been fun this entire series and Alison Pill is amazing (even though there were some questionable things about Jurati’s arc in season one). I really want more about them. I’m more and more guessing Jurati will be gone to be the BQ and Rios will stay in the 21st century. Really wanted to avoid that.

I feel like the best thing about Nepenthe is the moderation of it all. It's just enough to scratch my nostalgic itch without going overboard. I'm praying they don't lean too heavily into the fan service with this one.

That’s my fear as well. But based on how much nostalgia sells to fanboys…
