Spoilers Season 3 Cast Announcement

Hot damn! That actually made me tear up. Damn it's gonna be a long wait.

I kind of wish they'd hold these casting announcements till the current season has ended (or even debuted, in the case of SNW), but it's such exciting news I'm also fine with it! It's kind of remarkable they've kept it quiet this long, actually.

And so begins the months-long speculation on what Worf's gonna look like.
Didn't that begin a few seconds into "The Vulcan Hello"? :bolian:

Now this leads to the question, where are Denise Crosby and Wil Wheaton?
Killed in the Romulan supernova and Traveling, I expect.

I wonder if all the rest of the season 1/2 cast gets wrapped up at the end of this season. I would not miss Soji or Elnor, but I've grown attached to Rios, Jurati, Raffi, and this years version of Seven.

I love TNG, it’s what got me into Trek, but this doesn’t excite me.

Don’t get me wrong, ‪‪I’ll watch, and I’ll almost certainly enjoy at the very least large parts of Season 3, and ‪‪I’m sure it’ll be nice to see those characters again.

Just like the SNW S02 casting news from a couple weeks ago, ‪‪I think my initial reaction is the opposite of what the folks making Trek assume fans would have, and instead of making me more hyped for the show, it makes me more hesitant and skeptical about the new season.

But I’m going to go into the season with an open mind, and a love of the characters, and try not to have expectations beyond just seeing what they’re going to do with it all.

This ties in with the rumours and connecting the dots that some of the current cast wouldn’t be returning for season 3. I think we know that Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd are back from social media posts, but do we know of anyone else for definite?

I mean…
Elnor died and Jurati has been assimilated so…[/spolier]

Here’s hoping they stick with the Enterprise E instead of bringing in an Enterprise F.

I need to see more but honestly? I’m finding this a little difficult to get excited about. The promise from the beginning was Picard would NOT be TNG part 2. I like what they did with Will and Deanna in “Nepenthe” but that was a one off. Plus I’ve really enjoyed the new characters. My guess now is very few will be coming back. And that makes me sad. But, I suppose we’ll wait and see.

I hoped we'd be seeing them all again before they ran out of seasons, so this is great news for me. I didn't expect to learn about it now though, halfway through season 2! I suppose we probably are getting the last season at the end of the year then if they're already promoting it.

First off I'll admit, I got tears in my eyes when I watched the trailer!

Hurd and and Ryan are the only ones for sure are coming back
Alison Pill moved to NYC back in October to start filming a new TV series. Santiago was doing some travelling, based on his IG while season 3 was filming, Orla Brady went back to Ireland in September, and Evan and Isa were on the in person convention circuit and cruise while season 3 was filming (which they wouldn't have been allowed to do due if they were filming due to COVID protocols)

This is pretty much exactly how ‪‪I feel.

‪‪I want to be excited about this announcement, ‪‪I feel like ‪‪I should be, but ‪‪I really like the new cast as well, and don’t want to see them all just go away.

While I'm happy to see these returning faces, as my partner and I were discussing last week, one of the great strengths of this show is that it has such a charismatic original cast. I'll be curious to see how they play this so as to not alienate viewers who came into this show with no prior TNG knowledge.

I want more Rios, damn it.

That said, these folks sure deserved better than Nemesis.

Yes, it's because just bringing in the old cast is easy nostalgia bait and basically says "we weren't able to come up with new ideas that stood on their own". I'd love to be pleasantly surprised, but given the level of creativity and writing we've seen in season 2 of Picard, I'm not expecting to be wowed.

I predict a blood bath SO MANY QUESTIONS

I AM BUZZING! Who if any are still Starfleet?
Will Jean-Luc and Bev get it on?
Who's Brent playing? Another Data revival, or is Arik Soong causing trouble?
Worf - Klingon Chancellor?
The 35th Anniversary if TNG is this September - will they pop out the first few episodes before 2022 clsoes?
Is there still an Enterprise and is it -E or -F?

Are they regulars or recurring? What about Rios, Soji, Raffi, Seven and Agnes? (we know Raffi and Seven are definitely involved)

Also it seems there's a hell of a lot moee of the Stargazer to come.
