The Animals That Aren't Dogs or Cats Thread

The woman and horses from another of my another one of my favorite Instagram accounts, Skydog Sanctuary, were featured on The Dodo yesterday.

And to go back to what I was talking about with The Dodo yesterday, Claire talks about how she paid $25 for Blue Zeus and yet they still featured him and his family.

Aw! He reminds me of our dearly departed Moonlight.

So a conversation in another thread, brought up an interesting idea for a conversation in this thread. Are there any animals you're afraid of?
The only animals I'm really afraid of are things like scorpions, and venomous spiders. I used to be more afraid of bees, but I've been stung twice out on my bikes rides, and I was OK, so that made a little less afraid. I still try to avoid being stung again, since it hurt like hell, but I don't panic when I see them as much as I used to.
Ditto. I've always respected critters that could hurt me, but only living here could make me scared, and that's of scorpions and black widow spiders.

Allow me to introduce… ‘Mocha’:
So cute!

I need a "How To" video or a course which will show me how train my own personal/loyal squad of Attack Squirrels to help me to safeguard my sack of...nuts.
Ask Squirrel Girl!

OK, so I gotten myself into a bit of a predicament today. So, I've mentioned before that I'm an atheist, but there are times that I do wonder if fate or destiny or something like is a thing, and if it is I think it was screwing with me today. So, before I went on a bike ride this morning, I kind of half-jokingly thought to myself if I came across any horseback riders out on the street during my bike ride, I'd look more seriously into either going on a trail ride or vising the farm animal sanctuary I've been thinking about volunteering at, and I saw two different horseback riders. They weren't the ones who stop and talk, and let me pet their horses, these were different ladies. Oh, and there's a house I go past on a different part of my ride that has horses, and I saw someone in their backyard with a horse, and rarely ever see anyone out there. So now I'm wondering if I really should take this as a sign, and go through with one of them.
Whether you think Something is giving you a message or not, you can still receive one.

I have to kind of wonder who the first person to ever ride a horse was, and how crazy they were. I mean really, who would look at this 1,000+lbs animal that can run 30mph, and think I'm gonna jump on it's back. Kind of makes me wonder if the 6,000 year+ domestication of the horse might have begun with the ancient world's equivalent of

...plus, that guy would be riding bareback and holding onto a couple of handfuls of mane or arms around the horse's neck to hang on for dear LIFE.

Yeah, that occurred to me after my other post, it must have been one hell of a ride.
Speaking of horses, I ran in eight horseback riders on my bike ride, one group of a guy and five girls, and then another pair of teen/tween girls. Pretty much all of the horseback riders that I run into are on the same street in the same neighborhood, that leads from the riding club, up to the park where I stop. It was kinda funny with the first group, as I was going down the street I saw a horseback rider over at the riding club, and just thought to myself "Oh, look a horseback rider", then another came into view, and I thought "or two", and then the rest, and I thought "or a whole lot more than two". I also noticed the guy was up in the front riding quietly all by himself, while the girls were all in one big group talking. It kind of made me wonder if he was one of the girls' husband/boyfriend or brother who got dragged along.
I did stop for them, and I each of the girls thanked as they went by, so I literally spent almost the entire time they were going by, which took a while as you can imagine, saying "you're welcome", "you're welcome", "you're welcome", "you're welcome",
I ended up passing them up on the way out of the neighborhood and did have to say excuse me and ask if I could sneak past because they had spread out and were taking up the whole road. One of them did move over for me, and I was able to get by. I felt a little bad because I think I startled the girl who moved over's horse, but I did apologize and she said it was OK.
I never saw them again, so I'm thinking they must have taken a different route into the park than I took.
I ran the two younger girls on the way on the way back through the neighborhood after I stopped at the park. They were fairly young, the older looked about 13-15 maybe, and the other about 11-12, but the funny thing is, the younger girl, who was fairly small, was actually on the bigger horse.
