Permanent daylight savings time passed by Senate

We should do whatever's safest, based on the data, between staying always on standard, staying always on daylight saving, or doing the switcheroo. By safest, I mean for pedestrians and school children, bicyclists, traffic, and so forth. My guess is that would mean having the sun up when children are going to school, but again, whatever the data says.

It'll mean I go to work just as the sun is coming up in the winter. Honestly, I don't care as long as we don't have to change the darned clocks!

Last week, Chuck Todd did an info graph on his show "Meet The Press" about what time the sun would rise and set in certain cities if permanent Daylight Saving were passed.

Here in Washington/Seattle on the shortest day of the year the sun would rise at 8:58 am and set at 3:17 pm, so six hours or so of daylight.

The more I think about it, the more we should stay on Standard Time.

Here in Washington it wouldn't affect us that much in the summer because of our long evenings. The sun would still set after 9pm even on Standard Time.

There's more accidents when the time changes because people don't all adjust quickly. The safest is to have one permanent time. Personally I like noon to be when the sun is at zenith but I'm not in charge. There's always going to be darkness. When the day grows shorter it's grandual enough to get used to it.

Exactly. The goal cannot be one that makes everyone happy. That ain't happening. We just want the clock changing to stop!

No more daylight saving time... I know what that means!
I never have to check the batteries in my smoke detectors again!
