It seems that DISCOVERY & PICARD have apparently been yanked off, as much as I have in the last 45+ years.
Honestly, every time I try to watch something fun or exciting, they make it not that way.
I hate so much about the ways that they choose to be.
Oh good! Not because I don't like
him, quite the contrary, but it alleviates my fears that they'll mstretch one story over 2 seasons with a huge cliffhanger at the end of season 2.

Matalas has mentioned that he sees all three seasons as very different, including the two he's worked on.
I can't recall sourcing for these offhand and I'm pretty tired at the moment. I'll try to dig it all up later. But here's what I recall in terms of recent third-season details from Matalas (and possibly Goldsman as well) from scattered statements:
- He thinks the season's antagonist is shaping up to be one of the best performances in the franchise.
- There will be more of a "submarine warfare" feel (a la Wrath of Khan) in a starship battle.
- Matalas' enjoyment of DS9 will become more apparent in the third season. (This I specifically recall being a recent Twitter reply to someone who asked if he was a Niner based on the Dukat/Martok/Sisko callouts last week).
Doesn't he also have severe health issues that make it less likely he'll be involved?

Where's that been stated or insinuated?
As far as I know he just prefers to teach music and live a private life. I've heard nothing about him being in ill health or being incapacitated.
