Spoilers Season 2 Trailers, Previews, and Promos

It would be sooo cool and odd at the same time if they saw 3D sculptures of their heads aging and de-aging, and a guy jumping into water up-close, and then grass in a lake while they slingshot :D

Edit: Ninjaaaad :D This is what happens when there are dozens of new treads to open in tabs and you work through hundreds of replies until you get to the final one...

Is Agnes having the same arc as last season? She started sweetness and light but Maddox sent her to a dark place

now it seems they’re doing the same with The Borg Queen?

Has the episode title been confirmed yet? The YT video says "Assimilated", but other sources like TVFanatic.com says "Assimilation"...

Yes that's what I saw mentioned in of the Picard threads here. Assimilation makes you think it's about the borg with a tiele like that.

Isn't the "FC Borg theme" just a variation on V'Ger's theme from TMP?

I see (sorry, I mean hear) what you mean… but it is quite a different score and arrangement even though there are similarities with the jarring, low bass notes.

Btw, I’ve mentioned this before, but this iteration of the Queen is quite adorable.

The Borg were constantly being changed throughout their TNG appearances anyway. In Q Who, there was no talk of assimilation, the Borg only wanted technology, period. They had no interest in people at all, indeed it was implied the Borg are actually bred and grown on the ships, the Borg nursery was originally intended to be infant Borg, not babies who were assimilated.

Indeed, even introducing the concept of assimilation in TBOBW, Part 1 treated the very concept of turning Picard into a Borg as a unique thing that has only been done this once. It was Part 2 which suddenly and abruptly talks about assimilation being SOP for the Borg which it then became in all the Borg's subsequent appearances in the franchise. Really, the Queen is just the result of the continuing evolution of the Borg, which started when they were brought back in TBOBW.

Mind you, given the Borg were originally intended to be insects before the budget prevented that from happening, one could argue the Queen is more in line with the original concept than what we got in Q Who anyway.

Good post.

Now, perhaps my memory is faulty here, but two things.

First, regarding Locutus/Picard. The assimilation was not the unique part. Or rather, a less than complete assimilation was the unique part. The Borg wanted a drone who could think independently and retain a part of their humanity to make our assimilation easier (for them).

Second, regarding Q Who. We (humanity/Star Fleet/The Federation) know nothing of the Borg at that point. Guinan certainly has encountered them, or rather, has secondhand info. They find a planet the Borg have ravaged & a cube. Point being, I wouldn't take Borg info from Guinan has gospel. It is true they go for the technology first. Q tells them the Borg want their technology. But little else. Troi correctly identifies a hive mind.

Anyway, they go on an away mission. The Borg ignore them. No threat. That remains the same. There is a Borg nursery. Riker deduces they are born human(oid) & then add the implants. But he could be wrong.

But there is certainly no "resistance is futile" speech. That is BOBW stuff added later. JLP admits they need Q, Q sends them back, without restoring the 18 killed. Guinan says the Borg will be coming now, sooner that without Q's ploy. Picard muses that Q did the right thing for the wrong reason.

The changes from Q Who to BOBW may be due to the fact that Q Who was their first meeting with humanity, BOBW is not.

Well, first recorded meeting of the Borg (by name). The Federation had heard rumours of a cybernetic race in the Beta quadrant, that's why the Hansens were out there.

The Borg are also responsible for the destruction of the outposts along the Neutral Zone in the TNG Season 1 finale.

No, that's how First Contact retconned things. In TBOBW Part 1 the fact that Picard is turned into a Borg is very much a unique thing never before heard of. The Collective voice even says they need to use Picard as a means of dealing with an authority based culture, implication being they've never done so before. Then in Part 2 assimilation suddenly became SOP.

Yeah, "Q, Who" is the BORG's first interaction with Star Fleet, not with humanity.
They specifically wanted Picard in TBOBW so as to deal with what they considered to be the most likely hinderance to completing their assimilation of Earth.
They had already assimilated humans, the Hansen Parents & Annika plus all the folks from the missing outpost.

I've merged some threads devoted to individual episode previews, promo pics, etc. into this thread, so they'll all be under one umbrella rather than having a separate thread for each such item. Hopefully back-reading won't be too confusing where threads were overlapping.
