Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

People be like,
NUTREK SHIPS SO UGLY:barf2:

And then like,
Excelsior II so pretty:adore:

And here's me, thinking Excelsior II is utterly hideous and completely bewildered at the reaction:shrug:
Same.
I think the whole STO fleet is ugly. But, I watch Trek for the characters and situations. The Defiant didn't look like a Trek ship to me, since it had no nacelles. Voyager had ugly little atrophied nacelles. It won't affect my enjoyment of the show one bit.
I'm quite the same here too. Ships, while pretty, are not the driving force for me to watch Star Trek, never mind the intensity of the affection for them. I lack that.

Gotta make room for that future Eaglemoss version that's gonna go next to all the other Excelsior variants.

:( I have 2 EM ships. An original 1701 and an 1701-J and they were gifts.

I missed getting into the EMC early because I was stubborn and shaking my fist at clouds about "no new fangled pre-built model club will ever replace building kits by hand!" and "They are too tiny for that kind of money! (still kinda true)

Now I regret it but it is too late, I could never afford to catch up now. Just bury me with all my hand builts and this old farts afterlife will be okay.

I did the thing for like a couple months but it was too expensive and I was ending up with ships I didn't even want. No way to go all the way with that collection when there's just SO MANY whatever ships. Now, I only pick them up on Amazon once in a while when I want to fill in a blank or treat myself. Just got the Constellation Class Stargazer the night Picard premiered when I saw the, well, Stargazer.

Damn, never thought of just picking up favs off Amazon. I could try to find ships I cannot find in kits anymore.

How big of scalp tax, (price increase) is added for that ability... I mean, club prices verses Amazon, just a couple bucks or....yikes!? lol
It really depends, because it can be a third party seller going through Amazon.

I have seen a Klingon Cleave ship at my local resell shop too.

Ok
So the new 'Excelsior II' class USS Excelsior has registry NCC-42037. I'll display even more of my ignorance on how registry numbers work in suggesting that seems a bit low for a new ship in 2401. Possibly a refit of a ship class from the pre-TNG Era, or do registries have a teired system depending on ship type? Maybe the main capital ship types get the bigger numbers.

There was a U.S.S. Gorkon as early as 2369.

True, but at least there was a reason to name a ship after Gorkon.

Even if the USS Rustazh has something to do with Krenn (from TFR), I don't see how that could be. What reason would the Federation have to name a ship after Krenn?

For those of us not in the know care to summarize why wouldn't have a connection with Krenn??
