My critique here is not the veracity/verisimilitude of how the therapy happens or is conducted (I am not qualified to make this assessment and will defer to your expertise); rather, it is based in how it is inserted into the flow of the plot and characterization. On DSC it seems like the characters are avatars for contemporary psychotherapists and not...characters on the show. It's a pronounced difference this year over past seasons. Troi might have been a shitty therapist but it made sense for Troi, the character, to be doing therapist-y things, even if she was as bad at it as you say.
I won't wade to far afield here because of the thread. I'll just add that I don't think Discovery's way is perfect. Only that Star Trek could benefit more from it and find the balance between TNG and DSC.

All I can say is Wow! This was a really great first episode. A rollercoaster ride for Picard and crew in season 2. The Borg Queen is scary when she appeared on the Stargazer. The borg ship is really well done.I voted Excellent.I was wondering too if this will finally be the last of the Borgs story in Star Trek too.

Awesome.

Love the new uniforms and I loves seeing a proper fleet. The very likeable gang are back together and the Excelsior is still going strong.
Also the few bars of the FC theme almost made me cry.
The only thing I didn't like was the awful looking S&M mask Dr. Octopus borg

I mean, there was a U.S.S. Chekov at the Battle of Wolf 359 so it only stands to reason that the Captain of the Excelsior would also get a ship named in his honor.

Yes, but the ship only used his last name. Hikaru and John F. Kennedy have one up on him.

Anyone notice the TNG theme played when Picard walks on the bridge of the Stargazer? The music was played low so as not to distract from the scene.
And the First Contact theme too. I loved hearing that again.

Anyone else get the feeling that these last 2 seasons of Picard are going to end the Borg story once and for all?
But would they? They could definitely milk them after their absence these years. Would be fantastic to get them in another movie.

I'd actively change only one thing about the bridge design. The need for Red Alert lights around all the doorway arches and inside the railings.

Dude, do not get my hopes up like that. That would make Picard completely worth revisiting the toothless enemy of the Borg just to put a bullet through that inane concept once and for all.

Not really sure how I feel about this episode. Some of it feels like trying to get people to forget what happened last season, like Juranti literally murdering someone. She gets off on a temporary insanity defense and jokes about it at a bar now?

That and Q being totally fine with Picard being an android even though he's supposed to be testing humanity again. lol
