Things that frustrate us all

It's not a big deal but UPS had a few packages for me that were out for delivery today. They were all on the same truck. Driver dropped off, left me two packages short, later returned and dropped off one more package, but I was still one short. Their "follow my delivery" was telling me the package was on that specific truck in the neighborhood. Now I get an email saying the package has been reschedule and the delivery history has been completely erased. Tracking says it's "on the way" and the events of today never happened.

I got a fraud alert from my credit card company trying to make some Doordash charge. It's great they caught the first fraud attempt, but annoying as hell that I now have to update my billing information in about fifty places.

Tried to go to the store today and apparently the entire nationwide computer system for that department store chain is down. Those poor employees.....

I do feel delivery companies are generally better now than they used to be, usually now at least get a window of a couple of hours for the delivery time.

But last week a knock at the door, someone delivering a package, was expecting something so didn't think anything of it so took the box, noticed immediately not my name or address so out the door and alongside the van, he knew I was trying to get his attention but ignored me.

I called them when inside thinking if can alert them they can send him back, I'm telling someone with 2 or 3 minutes of the issue saying send him back but no they can't do that will have to come back to me.

They return my call later but I miss it as on a call with work so rather than call me back a message is left leaving the onus on me again to call them, eventually I agree to let the actual customer have my number as they are local and they make arrangements to come to mine and collect.

I know mistakes happen but much of this could have been avoided if both the driver and agent on the phone had displayed common sense.

This is my sixth or seventh time being called and this will be the third time to sit on a jury.

Luckily, it's on a week where I'm not working as a supervisor, so it's not that big a hit to lose a couple of work days.

Can you get out of jury duty for a specific courthouse? I haven’t been called in a few years, but the last time I did, the jury pool room fluorescent lights gave me migraines…

Don't have to worry about loss of pay with my current employer, as I get paid in full by them whilst on jury duty, Plus of course I can claim travel expenses and a small Food and Drink allowance from the court.

You know what's frustrating? Finding a glaring bit of misinformation on a website or blog and not being able to contact the writer. For instance, this review of George Pal's Atlantis, the Lost Continent mistakenly says the movie was in Cinerama! But I can't find an email or any way of telling the reviewer, Richard Scheib, of his egregious error. (For the record, Pal's only venture into the three-camera Cinerama format was The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm.)

Spent the night in the ER with food poisoning. I called the court and emailed them. I haven't slept in 24 hrs. I hope they don't make me come in.

It did look like it was going to be an interesting case, though. But if I haven't slept at all and have been ill--and have the hospital bill to prove it--maybe they will cut me a break. If I can just stay up another hour to find out...

Ah the joys of Jury Duty, done it once, though I have been called a second time but got excused from it because they deferred it to many times.

I got lucky. First time I was excused. Second time, I completely forgot about it and nothing happened, I can only assume I was excused and didn't know it. I've heard that it's... unpleasant when you don't report.

My frustration? Autocorrect not knowing that "lets" (present tense of let) and "its" (belongs to it) exist.

Nothing like barfing in court to get out of jury duty!

Hope you feel better soon.

Just a moment ago, I was at a four-lane red light. Left lane is turn left, other three lanes are straight (and eventually the right two lanes turn right). Lead car in the far right lane, as soon as it turns green, is signaling left and forces its way into the next lane, then moves one more lane over and just stops. As far as I could tell, this car from the far right wanted to move three lanes over into the far left. But because there wasn’t enough room to move three lanes like that (plus left turn is now red), it just stops one lane short and doesn’t move. So the car behind it honks and only then does the front car go forward.
