Things that frustrate us all

I was in the turn lane on a busy street waiting to turn left into a parking lot. As I'm turning left, a driver waiting to turn left out of the parking lot went and I had to swerve to avoid her!

While we were driving out of the park where had taken the dogs for their midday walk we got behind some guy walking really, really, really slowly down the middle of the road, and then when we made it to our neighborhood we got stuck behind a pick up going really, really, slow.:scream:
The guy at the park was also on the end of a blind corner that goes down a hill, so he's pretty damn lucky my mom takes that corner slowly and didn't go flying around it and down the hill at 50mph.
I ride my bike there, and I very quickly learned to take that corner carefully after having a few horseback riders and hikers pop up out of nowhere on me as I went around it.

That fuckin Peng Shuai interview was totally fake. It's obvious she was just saying what the ChiComs told her to say. Bastards.

I had the CT scan I need scheduled for yesterday afternoon. I got called by the imaging place (SimonMed) Friday because my insurance denied their pre-auth request. I called my insurance and found out my doctor had requested more areas to be imaged than "required for diagnosis." I called my doctor to have a new order put in, as well as an order for a Xanax for me to take before getting the IV put in.

Yesterday, Walgreens had no record of the Xanax. Then I got to SimonMed and the new pre-auth was listed as "pending" so I said I'd pay out-of-pocket. I get back to the tech and they don't have the ultrasound machine for finding veins like mine. They got a tech with 20+ years experience. He tried twice (once in each arm), but could not get an IV in me. So no scan. Since my doctor's office isn't far away, I went there and talked to my doc's MA (my doc was off) so she could talk to my doc this morning.

Doctor messaged me today that I need to find another SimonMed that can do it. I spent waaaaaaay too much of my day on the phone and found that NONE of them can do what I need to have an IV for this scan. So I now have a message in to my doctor's referral coordinator to see if we can find somewhere that can do this. Then it will need to be scheduled and approved and hubby and I will need to take time off again.

ARGH!!!!!

Yikes.

I seriously cannot stand the smell of weed/marijuana/call it whatever… :barf:

Never seen the fascination in the stuff, and not just because of my career in the USCG/military — the crap just stinks to high Heaven IMO. :cardie:

I’m saying all this because my neighbor in the hotel that I’m staying in up here in Seattle through April (for work purposes) insists on lighting up every afternoon. It’s heavy/bad enough to make one (or at least me) nauseous.

I’ve told the management about it, so we’ll see. Not expecting much, to be honest, but maybe I’ll be surprised. *crossing fingers*

Cheers,

It's not exactly the most pleasant smell, but I'll take it any day over (tobacco) cigarette smoke.

I've tried smoking dope about three times. Never did much for me, but then maybe it just wasn't very good shit. A neighbor in my building smokes weed pretty regularly on weekends. He says it relaxes him and helps his creativity. He offered to take me cannabis shopping if I ever want to try the stuff again. (It's legal for recreational use in California.)

What I've never understood is the attraction of alcohol. Beer, wine, distilled spirits -- to me it all tastes like panther piss. :ack:

Is he smoking in the building/room? Even though marijuana is legal here in Washington, we still have strict rules about where you can smoke it and hotel rooms isn't one of them. It's recreational use for the home. My apartment building has a designated smoking area out in the parking lot and believe me, when people smoke on their balcony, I immediately complain to management and there's usually an email and notice on the person's door within 24 hours.

Edit to add. Here is Seattle's marijuana laws.
Can You Smoke Weed in Public in Seattle?
Smoking weed in public is strictly forbidden in Seattle, WA. According to the city’s Criminal Code, “It is unlawful to open a package containing or consume marijuana, useable marijuana, marijuana-infused products, or marijuana concentrates, reasonably identifiable by sight or smell as marijuana or a product derived from marijuana, in view of the general public or in a public place.”

Public consumption in Seattle is a class 3 civil infraction. You won’t go to jail for it, but you will be hit with a fine. Also, the law doesn’t just apply to consuming cannabis in public. Simply opening a package of a marijuana-containing product will put you at odds with the law.

Hotels
Under Washington’s Smoking in Public Places law, 75% of hotel and motel rooms must remain smoke-free, and that applies to cannabis smoke. A majority of hotels still prohibit cannabis use, but a growing number are catering to pot tourism. You won’t be able to smoke a traditional joint or pipe in most hotel rooms, but you can vape, consume edibles, or enjoy other smoke-free THC consumables in certain hotels as long as it’s done outside of public view.

I would show this to management. If you continue to have a problem, I would take it up with the City Attorney.

Can you move to another room?

If you have a connecting door, wet a towel and cover the gap under the door. Then shut the exterior windows if they're open. Won't do anything about the vents, but that's better than nothing.

If you're feeling up to talking to the neighbor, if hotel management doesn't do it, you can ask them to please not smoke on the balcony if there is one, or to close the windows when they smoke, or if push comes to shove to smoke inside the closed bathroom with the vent on.

Otherwise just get something powerful but pleasant smelling to counteract the scent.

It's a silly thing but I find myself getting annoyed by people who pronounce their "g"s so hard that it almost sounds like a k: "the dinink" table. Or even worse, they make every "g" sound too long, so comes out almost like "dining-guh.".

What the fuck, people? Is this just a Southern thing?

In the southern US they drop "g"s. They plan "weddin's" instead of weddings.
What bugs me is when a central T is dropped. Like "daugh'er" for daughter.

I love Knorr noodles, but for some reason, even though I use the same amount of the stuff you add, and cook for the same amount of time, I can never seem to get a consistent moistness. Sometimes they're practically soup, and other times they're almost bone dry 5 minutes after I take them out of the microwave. I'm starting to wonder if it's an issue with my microwave.

That is frustrating! I hope you can get in and get your CT soon!

The number of young people who smoke. Where I work out of 8 under 25 year olds 7 smoke.

I understand older people to a degree who smoked before there was so much publicity about the dangers, plus it was cheaper and more acceptable socially.

But for younger people to do it just doesn't make sense, it doesn't look cool, it kills, its dangerous to other people and its very expensive.

Can't work out why anyone starts nowadays.
