New (Old) USS Enterprise

Speaking of the TOS Connie, I made a thread about the YouTuber HalfScreen who's doing work on the floor plans on the inside of Star Trek StarShips.

He's got decks 1-11 layed out.

Given your knowledge of the Connie, how accurate is it?

My familiarity is more with the TNG era vessels, so I'm not the best judge for the layout of the TOS connie.
The interesting thing is that I ran across that video a few days ago! I thought it was pretty cool.

I think the good Professor Moriarty said it well enough! Who am I to argue with Franz Joseph?
Cool video Eric, nice to hear your voice. :techman:
That is VERY kind of you! I know plenty of people who would probably be glad to never hear my voice again ... of course, I WORK with those people! LOL!

I can't wait to finish this build and then move on to the textures. This is fun!

That is really impressive work.
That is EXTREMELY kind of you! I'm about done with the structure and the internal lights.

I'll have to figure out what to do with the small lights on the sides of the primary hull and on top of the fronts of the warp engines. Those were really small, and lit so low that I don't think most people even knew they were there.

I've got the circular "light" at the front center of the top of the saucer, but I won't be lighting it. I've seen it lit in a bunch of post-Star Trek episodes. But it was never lit during the series. It was the same color as the hull during the original series.

I am hoping to start on the textures next weekend.

Eric, can I ask a perhaps imperintent question? Why are you rebuilding your Enterprise model? Your previous iteration was just about perfect… are you doing something different here that didn’t exist in the previous version?

I guess that modifying an existing CGI model must be a pain in the eh graphics card then or really complicated/time consuming?

Depends on the modification. If you were just moving the nacelles around you might need to reposition the pylons but overall is trivial. But if the shape of the saucer or engineering hull needs to be changed it would probably easier to make them again and recut the windows, etc, IMHO.

That is exactly correct. I'm remaking this because of the saucer section.

There is a little more to it. I got hit with COVID-19 twice before there was any prevention. I was even wearing a mask, but it wasn't good enough! I've lost quite a bit of memory because of this. Yep, I'd love it back, but one thing I can do is remake my USS Enterprise to look a little more like the real thing. The texturing process will be ... interesting.

I want to go on and finish what I always wanted to do, make the other ships from the original series. Then I'd love to put in my own effects into some episodes. I presume it will only be for myself, but it will be fun and I can post images here. I really, REALLY didn't care for some of what was done (by CBS, right?) with the reissue with new effects. I'd love some better effects that adhere closer to the original effects which I love.

But thank you ALL for looking in and asking questions! I greatly appreciate your attention and comments! It really does help!

My friend, you may always ask any question you want!

As you already found, I am doing this because I've found that my lower saucer was wrong. Plus, I'm hoping that this helps me remember more about modeling. Danged COVID-19 has damaged my memory and I'd like to think I can still model. So, walking the same path and trying to learn a little more. Next will be a Klingon ship, then maybe K7 again, a Galileo Seven shuttle craft, and maybe some others.

Well I'm hoping you're on the good road to recovery. I've looked at your previous Enterprise and didn't notice anything off with the saucer :)
