Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

I'm just saying. I genuinely don't care. I just want this show to be great again, and I trust RTD can make it so.

Yeah i have full confidence that R T Davies knows what he is doing, and at this point i would take Dicky Davies to run the show(a metabellis crystal for anyone who gets that reference without googling), as long as it get's Chibnall away from it. lol

So some fans speculated that 1st of March will see some kind of announcement, maybe the new Doctor?

It would be nice, and probably wise to get a bit of a hype going. Tradition too… I think The War Games was the only time the public didn’t know who was next in line for the Tardis keys.

Is there any particular reason fans think it'll happen March 1 or is it just idle, impatient waiting that germinated into its own idea?

What are they basing it on on? Given the next episode to be shot won't air until November 2023 they're actually in the position to do a regeneration without us knowing who it's going to be into.

Now, the next Special is due for an Easter broadcast, so if there was anything it'd be more likely to be a trailer for that.

Wait, I'm confused. After the regeneration episode the next episode which will also be the 60th anniversary isn't until November 2023?

If they're auditioning now you'd think someone would be made an offer soon (if they haven't already). There's a limit to how long you could keep that secret, and why would you even want to?

Except he is writing. An whilst it is possible to script a Doctor without an actor in in mind, it usually helps. (Otherwise you end up with the Harry Sullivan effect for companions, for example) He’s either got a Doctor, or someone in mind.

Davies said in that same interview where auditions were just starting that he had already written multiple episodes. And Steven Moffat started writing for Series Five in January 2008, nearly a year before Matt Smith was cast. I believe both have said that they tend to write for the Doctor generally rather than for a specific Doctor, though I’m sure catchphrases and verbal tics and so forth get worked in along the way.

Yes, I’m pretty sure that RTD said long ago that he wrote Nine and Ten much the same (at the start anyway) but Chris and David brought their own twists and interpretations to the role.

I’m thinking ‘lots of planets have a north’ wouldn’t work if the Doctor was played by a Cornish actor.
