Paramount/JJ trying another Trek movie (that will probably never get made).

Spock-Uhura: I like that they did it, and I like that they stopped doing it.

Would be nice to see Christine Chapel in the movies.

We don't *see* her, but she was in ST'09:

MCCOY: Reaction to the vaccine. Dammit! Nurse Chapel, I need fifty cc's of cortazone.
CHAPEL: (offscreen) Yes, sir.

... and mentioned in STiD:

CAROL: You're much cleverer than your reputation suggests, Captain Kirk.
KIRK: I have a reputation?
CAROL: Yes, you do. I'm a friend of Christine Chapel's.
KIRK: Christine, yes. How is she?
CAROL: She transferred to the outer frontier to be a nurse. She's much happier now.

So, she was a nurse, then transferred to the frontier to...be a nurse?

I interpreted the line to mean "she transferred from being a nurse on a starship to being a nurse on the outer frontier", with the emphasis on the locations. Not everyone keeps the same job when they move. I left out the following bit of dialogue in which Carol says "You have no idea who I'm talking about, do you?", so it seems like she's filling in gaps to jog his memory.

Or it's just bad writing. Probably both.

Technically, we never heard the first name of the "Nurse Chapel" whom McCoy addressed in ST09. It could have been a completely different Nurse Chapel. :p

Seems to me that Head Nurse on a Starship must have been a pretty prestigious position, and her bio-research background was one of many qualifications that she possessed to land the spot. She was apparently well on her way to her doctorate, and succeeded McCoy as Chief Surgeon.
