Donny’s Late TOS Movie Era Interiors

Donny How about Switching to a different SiFi Series. for a change? Space 1999, Lost in Space, Space Above and beyond, Battlestar Galactica TOS and New series, Serenity or how about something we haven't seen like the Honor Harrington. Just a Suggestion

Of all those, I’d probably jump at Space:1999, but I’d also like to explore 2001: A Space Odyssey

According to the OTOY website, it encompasses everything from Roddenberry through the full Berman era (depending on how you read the release).
The Roddenberry Archive is cataloguing key texts and documents from Gene Roddenberry’s life and career as well as canonically memorializing quiescent reference 3D models of the Starship Enterprise – including studio models as filmed on set and life-size 1:1 scale ‘in Universe’ versions. In the years ahead, the archive will continue to map out iconic reference designs from the Gene Roddenberry era of Star Trek – which includes the original Star Trek television series, the original six Star Trek motion pictures, and Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as its direct spin-offs.
It also appears that they are attempting to build digital assets of ships and sets with full interiors for "archival" purpose (hopefully video games?)

Anyway, congratulations @Donny wishing you all the best!

Hopefully this doesn't incur new copyright threats like what happened with Stage 9.

Donny, another idea would be Forbidden Planet. It's very much like proto-Star Trek in different ways.

I have to assume that since the Roddenberry Estate is a collaborator, and Rod is an Executive Producer on all the new Star Trek Shows, they have already sorted out the rights. Since you mentioned them, I wonder if "buying" Stage 9's existing work has been considered. All that work has already been done.

No, I mean that their interest in NFTs and thus claiming digital rights, won't inspire them to send cease and desists to other fan artists that they're not employing.

Congrats to Donny on having one of your models appear on screen in Picard season 2!

Yeah! The Gagarin is one of my favorite designs I worked on in my time on STO. It was modeled by me but designed by Hector Ortiz. The Sovereign model in the episode I also worked on, remastering Ian Richard’s work years earlier.

Dave Blass reached out to STO about using our ship designs since they didn’t have it in their budget to design a fleet of new ships, so we gave them some of our best original designs plus a few canon ones.

That must have felt so cool when you found out it was happening. I'm not sure I would have had the willpower to keep it secret.
