Spoilers Book of Boba Fett [Spoiler Discussion]

Look, I enjoyed the last two episodes. But I was watching this for Boba and Fennec, not Mando. Some of that should have been saved for his own show. *shrug*

Also some people are probably right about Dave wanting to do a certain duel, except they were guessing it would be in Bad Batch, not this show lol

People need to wake up and watch THIS NOW. Glad it’s 7pm in Japan. I watched it at 5. Very easy and I lost no sleep.

The one issue I have with a certain character showing up, is that means we know they won’t die in the the previous 24 years in-universe since their last appearance.

A very minor retcon, Yoda’s lightsaber was destroyed in the first issue of the Darth Vader 2017 comic. Unless he made another while in exile, or had a backup somewhere

Like Tusken, I really enjoyed this and the last episode. But this series meanders so much, I’m trying to figure out what it’s actually about.

And yes, the guest cast is awesome.

Luke’s appearance here makes me think I might actually be wrong in saying I don’t think Han will show up. I think all bets are off, now.

Regarding Luke, remember they hired that DeepFake guy who did his own take on the Mando Luke on YouTube a while back. I wonder if some of that was his work.

There is a possible, minor, retcon in this episode.

Yoda’s light saber was seen destroyed at the start of the 2017 Darth Vader comic run. Now it is possible Yoda had multiple lightsabers. But it’s also a minor thing, his saber being destroyed in the comic was not plot relevant

They sort of buried the lead with showing us that Luke and Ashoka know each other already.
It’s a shame they made Luke follow the same rules of the old Jedi order. I was hoping he would be more like his EU counterpart.
I just have a feeling following these old archaic rules is going to bite him in the ass one day.

90% sure this is WHY they hired him.

Why? Triggering PTSD in your students never hurt anyone, right?

Directed by Dave Filoni.

Yeah, no sh*t!

This episode was like waking up Christmas morning to see what Santa left.

One line in this episode made me think.... "A short time for you is a lifetime for someone else".
What if, years from now they do the final episode of The Mandalorian and at the end of the episode they cut to years later and it's set post sequel trilogy and we see an older Grogu return to the jedi temple to train and it's a new temple constructed by Rey. You know they're gonna do it!

Ok.. ok... that wasn't Star Wars... that was just straight up Pornography!

Oh my god. Lost my shit at Luke. Lost my shit at Ahsoka. Lost at my shit at seeing Ahsoka & Luke together. Seriously lost my shit at Cad Bane.

The onnnnlyyyy thing, remember that poster of Luke & Grogu, wasn't his lightsabre yellow? I guess it's nice to give him Yoda's green one, but I just thought that yellow one looks nice in contrast to his green skin.

But yeah, amazing episode.

I'm glad Yoda's lightsaber went with him to Dagobah. One of the old Visual Guides showed that he kept it inside his hut but then a later source retconned that and indicated he didn't bring the weapon with him into exile. It would only make sense. He was a warrior during the Clone Wars and the Emperor, Vader or an Inquisitor might someday manage to locate him. Being defenselss except for Force powers might not be a good idea.

He dropped his saber in the senate chamber in ROTS, and we never saw him pick it back up. Then we see it destroyed in the first issue of the 2017 Darth Vader comic run, but that's a minor thing, it wasn't important to the comic's plot at all. Plus maybe Yoda has a backup lightsaber.

Also I love that Freetown's cantina was lined with the Krayt Dragon bones from Mando S2. I wonder how they got them in there.

Freetown was what the town was renamed to the same Aftermath novel where Cobb came from
Though the town was renamed that before Mando Season 2. So that kind of felt like a 'whoops our mistake' moment in this episode.

WOW. I thought we would get a quick 1-2 mn shot of Luke and Grogu. I did not expect they would devote so much of the episode to Luke and Grogu. That was amazing.

We got to see R2-D2 and the construction of Luke's jedi school which was super cool. We got a real training montage with Luke and Grogu that mirrored the training that Yoda gave Luke. The training of Luke and Grogu was so much better IMO than the training of Rey in Last Jedi.

We got Luke sharing his "yoda" wisdom with Grogu and mention Yoda. We got a flashback to Order 66 when the Empire wiped out the Jedi and Grogu survived. We got Yoda's lightsaber! So many callbacks that honor the prequels.

I would definitely watch a Luke series! Just give me a series of Luke training young Jedi in the school and show us that era. That would be amazing. And it seems like the producers are interested in using the de-aged Luke more. I suspect we will see more Luke in the Ashoka series. And we got to see Ashoka again which was great.

But the scenes were not just empty fan service. It showed us what is happening with Grogu, and his level with the Force, and explains why he will return to Mando for season 3. It was a good example of show don't tell. I guess the only criticism could be that perhaps it did not belong in the Bobba Fett series and they should have kept those scenes for the first episode of mando season 3. But all the scenes were fantastic!

The rest of the episode was great too. It was great seeing Timothy Olephant's character. The western feel was great. And we got to see the threat of the Pikes and advance the main plot.

But it is weird that the two best episodes of the series are the ones where Bobba Fett is sidelined. I can't help but feel like the show suffers from the fact that we don't really care about the Bobba Fett character. Or maybe to be more precise, we care more about other characters, like Mando, Grogu, Ashoka and Luke. When those characters appear, the show is better because we want to see them. It almost feels like the Bobba Fett series is a teaser to set up better shows.

I guess my thing about this series now is that I think the title is totally misleading. We’ve kinda shifted focus off of the titular character to Mando, which is fine and has brought some fun (if not overly fanservicy in the last two episodes) moments but why call it The Book of Boba Fett? Why not Armor? Or The Mandalorians? Make it more inclusive? I mean Fett didn’t even appear last week and had, what? One scene this? Did he even speak?

I don’t know. Just a thought about all of this.

One reason I'm for seasons of streaming shows being longer, both for Wars and for Trek. That way episodes like these - whether great or mediocre - don't take up too much of the entire season's story narrative.

So was that Cin Drallig defending Grogu and if so was he just protecting him or was he Grogu's Master? If that was him I thought Anakin/Vader struck him down but in this recovered memory the 501st Clones kill him.
