Blake's 7 - First Time Watching on BritBox

Only time that I can remember federation troopers having guns that weren't intended to kill was in Project Avalon. Stunning people isn't terran federation style.

Don't think the Liberator handguns had a stun capability - think you just had to hope they didn't hit a vital organ.

Wasn't until S4 that we saw a weapon capable of stunning but only if you change the magazine.
This is in Blake. No Liberator guns. Plot device to explain why some survived and others didn't. Who survived would depend on which actors wanted to do more, but the different weapons set up an explanation.

nope.

no side mission.

S2 finished with the Liberator going into the thick of things, S3 opens with the aftermath (pun intended) and 30 years later Big Finish would fill in the gap.

The side mission that I think I remember is inside the Big finish story, which i linked to.

As much as I would have loved them just killing the enemy for 2 hours, it would have gotten repetitive.

Ah British scifi.... I remember this show well. Did you get to that episode with the really cheesy robot doing guard patrol in what looks so obviously a disused power or gas plant?

Also yeah one of the few shows to not have happy ending

Actually, some of those power stations weren't disused. Jan Chapell (Cally) had it written into her contract for later seasons that she wouldn't film scenes set in nuclear power stations since she was planning children.

At the time my dad was designing power stations. A brilliant moment (that probably worried Jan) was when a tech at the nuclear station said after a prop explosion "Hope that was one of yours..."

They were all active. You get less radiation there than in Cornwall, or anywhere else with granite, and have badges to track it, but she was still worried.

OMG OK did not know they were filming on active sites
Weren't any disused nuclear stations then. All active, with big protection. Not remotely as dodgy as Chernobyl (Dad first knew about that because the detectors went off. After checking it hadn't come from any UK plants he checked with the Swedes, then rang a backroom channel to the USSR. They said "First I've heard, but then they wouldn't tell me...")

If that was directed at me, then no, I only watched the first three episodes before I got sidetracked by other stuff. I'm gonna go back to it once I finish the other stuff I've been watching like Britannia Season 2, 1883, Y: The Last Man, and Station Eleven. This will probably replace the first one of those four I finish.

I've watched all of Blake's 7 a few years ago and really it was good but I didn't want to go back to that setting. again. I think the show did pick up towards the middle but was bummed out the way it all ended.

Probably already discussed this at some point, but...

There was a short-lived audio remake with an all-new cast and reworked storylines, but it didn't last long. Good cast, though, they even had Benedict Cumberbatch in one.
And Idris Elba was Blake!
I like that prequel/reboot series. Really nice set up and serious tone. If they reimagine the series I would like something similar to this.

Idris Elba was mentioned as Blake in a lot of rumours about a remade TV series around that time, but Blake in the audio reboot was played by Derek Riddell.

Did anyone see the artwork for the proposed reboot with the grungy looking new version of the Liberator?

Why do all the spaceships and art in reboots have to have this grungy dirty look? What's with that?

Is this it? Google is turning up a lot of dead sites trying to dig into this.

I'm trying to think of some of the other dead projects out there. At one time, Drew Barrymore was looking into a remake of Barbarella. Robert Rodriguez was going to do Red Sonja with Rose McGowan. BSG with Bryan Singer and Tom Desanto. We eventually had pilots leaked of Wonder Woman with David E Kelley and Adrianne Palicki and of John Woo's Lost in Space. Any other might have beens?

Ah, you are right. I am mixing it up with a magazine cover I saw with Idris as Blake.

There was an audio reboot/recast in 2007.

The audio adventures feature DEREK RIDDELL (The Book Group, Ugly Betty) as the eponymous rebel leader Roj Blake, COLIN SALMON (James Bond, Alien vs Predator) as computer genius Kerr Avon and DANIELA NARDINI (This Life) as Supreme Commander Servalan.

Other cast members include CRAIG KELLY (Queer as Folk) as arch-villain Travis, CARRIE DOBRO (Babylon 5) as Jenna, MICHAEL PRAED (Robin of Sherwood), DOUG BRADLEY (Hellraiser), GEOFFREY PALMER (As Time Goes By) and KEELEY HAWES (Ashes to Ashes).
