New Paramount+ Ad Delivers Split Second DSC/PIC/SNW Crossover, Could a Real Crossover Be Far Away?

I was pleasantly surprised to see all current three live action Treks represented alongside one another in this Paramount+ “Back on Paramount Mountain” ad ‪‪I stumbled across.

At 12 seconds Stamets, Soji, and Uhura are seen chanting and carrying firewood together, and this super silly, cheesy, obvious marketing ploy to promote Halo tugged my Trek-lovin’ heartstrings.

‪‪I just enjoy seeing them all together so much, it makes me realize how much fun a good Trek crossover would be. There are so many talented people involved across Trek right now, it would be incredibly cool to see them all get to interact with one another.

I mean, just to gently tease you, I would also point out that this ad features Beevis and Butt-head, iCarly, and Legends of the Hidden Temple, so I don't think it means a major crossover is close at hand. ;)

A crossover like that would be fun, though to be honest I'm not sure how it would work. Obviously a crossover would require some sort of temporal shenanigan, since the shows are almost all set in different eras. (PRO and LD are set only three years apart, so they could probably cross over without much problem.) I think the biggest stumbling block would be DIS -- if I remember S2 correctly,

the Discovery had to travel to the 32nd Century to ensure it was outside the range of any remnants of the Control super-A.I. and Control had to believe that Discovery was gone and impossible to retrieve. If anyone from the 23rd or 24th Centuries learns that the Discovery and its crew survived and arrived in the 32nd Century, the remnants of Control might try to pursue Discovery to that era to recover the Sphere Data.

On the other hand... maybe that could literally be the unifying plot. ;)

No worries, and of course! ‪‪I don’t think Paramount is hinting at anything with the ad other than hinting that they’d like to make as much money off of Halo as they can, it was just seeing those three characters together got me excited, and thinking of the possibilities.

And you’re absolutely right, the plot mechanics of it would be difficult to juggle because each show occupies its own corner of the universe/timeline of Star Trek. That being said, I’m sure they could pull it off (just thinking about it makes me think of the Doctor Who episodes with multiple incarnations of the Doctor working together.

Honestly, if we didn’t know Q and time travel were the plot of Picard Season 2 then I’d think Q would be their best bet at an avenue for a crossover event, but that would feel repetitive for sure at this point.

I’m not sure of the how they could pull it off, but ‪‪I know that, barring it turning out absolutely horribly (which is also a possibility), ‪‪I would love to see them try. Seeing Celia Rose Gooding in her full Uhura uniform alongside Soji and Stamets was just too rad.

It's inevitable they'll do a Defenders-style crossover event. All kinds of bollocks scifi magic can be used to cross eras and timelines.

Imagine it. Michael Burnham and Jean-Luc Picard having duelling speeches.

Yeah, it'd be cool to see a slightly de-exaggerated live action version of the Lower Decks characters on another series at some point. I want them to pull a reverse Riker.

It'd be fun to see Mariner as the oldest Ensign in StarFleet.

Tawny Newsome is 38 y/o, for her to still be an ensign at that age would be record setting.

Walter Koenig was 31 playing 22 when he started as Chekhov, there’s no reason Mariner would have to be the same age as Tawny Newsome.
Do you think Tawny Newsome can still pass for 22 y/o when she's currently 38 y/o?

Don't get me wrong, Tawny Newsome looks great and all, but you couldn't trick me to think she looks 22 y/o given how she looks now.

Yeah. LD isn't clear on how old Mariner is, but 38 is not outside of the realm of possibility -- she is clearly older than 22. And while I don't think Tawny Newsome could pass for 22, she could definitely still pass for late 20s or early 30s.

Mariner was in the same year at the academy as a woman who commands her own ship now, it's probably fair to assume she's a bit older than 22.
How old do you think Beckett Mariner is, compared to Tawny Newsome who is 38 y/o IRL?

Tryla Scott attained the record for "Youngest Captain", beating James T. Kirk's record at 34 y/o. Tryla Scott was in her Early 30's when she officially attained the rank of Captain.

Beckett's BFF Amina Ramsey made it to Captain.

But I doubt she beat Tryla Scott or James T. Kirk's record of being one of the Youngest to reach Captain-hood. So Amina Ramsey's gotta be > 34 y/o.

Otherwise it would've been mentioned on screen.

I'd put her at late 20s, early 30s. It'd make a lot of sense for her friend to have become captain around the same age Tryla Scott did.
I doubt Amina Ramsey is that young, Tryla Scott was stated to be an exception.

James T. Kirk was the previous record setter at 34 y/o.

Tryla Scott was in her early 30's when she reached became Captain and surpassed James T. Kirk's record.

‪‪I do think that Tawny could easily pull off a role where she’s meant to be 10-15 years younger, through her acting ability, makeup, and just a willing suspension of disbelief.

Frankly, I think it’s a hell of a lot more believable than Kirk being 38 in The Motion Picture when William Shatner was 48.

You tell me, is it easier for a 48 y/o William Shatner to portray a 38 y/o James T. Kirk?

Or

38 y/o Tawny Newsome to portray a 22 y/o Beckett Mariner?
