I know these shows delight in obscure easter eggs and references (which I'm all for!) but I don't always spot them myself...but I noticed (and loved) that one of the specialty parts they put into that starfighter looked exactly like the pole they use to try and stop the compactor walls with in A New Hope. Wizard.

I don't know why I'm still up but can't wait to see the reaction to that one. It's funny Mando is the ESB Boba everyone wants, but this show has given us more the Boba from ROTJ who got his jetpack whacked by a blind guy.

The next one should be the one from Filoni, kind of suprised Bryce Dallas Howard got the one with so much lore and callbacks.

Well The Book of Mando was great
Loved seeing the podrace route again. And although his new ships pretty cool, it's a bit small to be permanent, no? How's he gonna live in that, or store his captured bountys etc

I'm wondering if we'll be lucky enough to actually see Grogu next week, or if that's a tease for Mando s3, and we'll just see him returning to help Boba instead..

There are going to be people who don’t watch Boba who are going to be confused in Mando S3, if it takes place after this episode.

Hopefully they include a brief recap. Maybe it can happen in a Bacta tank.

Wow. Where to even begin with this one? I mean I expected Dyn to show up, but more as part of a larger round up of "muscle", not a full episode of 'The Mandalorian' unto itself!

Nice to see Lightsaber combat shown to be just as dangerous for the wielder as the opponent when they're untrained non-force users, as it should be. Also, way more butchery than you see with a Jedi. Makes one appreciate just how much more precise they are with those things.

Live action Ishi Tib that talks? That's a first. Indeed a lot of OT races have been getting a lot of love on this show. Rodians, Hutts, Twi-Leks, Trandos, Klatooinians, a Wookiee, an Ithorian, and I've even been noticing a few Chadra Fan, and Snivvian in the crowd scenes.

I'm not sure why I was surprised to see a Dyson Ring in Star Wars; we've seen orbital tethers and rings before, and the Death Stars prove this civilization is more than capable of mega-structures . . . it just seems a little more like hard science fiction than we're used to. On the other hand it has magical atmospheric containment shields, so I guess that evens it out. Still, seemed like a very small one. That star can't be very big, and since it didn't look like a red dwarf it was probably a neutron star, which is more that a little terrifying.

Dyn's inability to connect with Tarre Vizsla's kyber is an interesting twist. Presumably an indication of his conflicted nature now that he's completed his quest. I sense a force vision in his future . . . hopefully without the aid of any nose lizards.

RIP Sundari. I mean we knew it was gone most likely, but I never expected to actually see it get kersploded. Also, some major Terminator vibes with the Imperial droids (not troopers, interestingly) combing the flaming ruins.

Not sure what he had her forge for Grogu. Chainmail shirt, I guess?

A live action BD unit? That has to be the fastest turnaround for something to be adopted into live action from other media! And now I kinda want Grogu to ride him.

That womprat suddenly makes Luke bullseyeing them a lot less serial-killery and a lot more like protecting the farm's droids, and probably vaporators. Those things clearly have a taste for metal.

How the hell did an N1 end up on Tatooine of all places? Padme? Sabe? Also, how is he supposed to take live bounties in a one-seater starfighter?
Calling it right now though: Grogu it going to ride in the old astromech socket bubble!

Kinda surprised to see a New Republic patrol over Tatooine given what's going on down on the surface. Maybe they're just there to keep the liners safe from pirates, and joyriders, apparently?

Speaking of which, I though the younger pilot looked familiar (yes, I know, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee was familiar too, not the point!) so I looked up his IMDB and sure enough; it's the guy that body-doubled as Luke in the season 2 finale!

Kinda curious how he would even know where Grogu is. Luke didn't seem to leave a forwarding address. Hell, I'm not sure he even has a permanent residence; isn't he supposed to be wandering the galaxy looking for relics at this point?

This episode had no Boba in it and yet was one of the best if not THE best episode yet. All the Prequel callbacks, a Dyson ring like in Halo, an Ishi Tib that speaks, Paz Viszla, the Armorer, Grogu references, Peli Motto and Beggar's Canyon along with other parts of the Episode I Podrace circuit. All that and a Naboo N-1 Starfighter rebuilt in Mando's colors.

This is a standalone episode that can teach other franchises how to make entertaining standalone episodes.

There were also a lot of fun Rebels references. Mando remarks that the blade is feeling heavier as he trains with it, whereas Sabine remarks that it feels lighter which Kanan says is because she's connecting with it, which was what Din Djarin was having trouble doing. Kanan chastises her for "Relying solely on the blade" Whereas the Armorer says Din is "Fighting the blade's strength" or something like that. Fun that their approaches to wielding the Darksaber are so different.

I didn't catch those! I forget a lot of details from Rebels episodes due to how long it took for me to get into the show.

This was another badass episode. The destruction of Mandalore was cool to see and there were definitely Terminator vibes. I've been doing a Rebels rewatch so all the Darksaber training callbacks made me giddy. I'm really curious to see what Din had made for Grogu and I hope we don't have to wait until season 3 of The Mandalorian to find out. I wonder what Bo Katan is up to?

Wow... What a great episode. So much to unpack. My only question is about Mando's combat with the other guy. He had beaten him and thus, gets to keep the blade. But why the random question from the Armorer about removing the helmets?

Just seemed like a thinly veiled plot device to move things along and give Mando another quest.

I was grinning like an idiot throughout that entire episode. Except for when Skynet glassed the Mandalorian homeworld, of course.

Was the mob boss Mando cut up played (or voiced) by Vincent D'Onofrio? It sounded like him a bit. IMDb doesn't have any extended cast listing up yet, and it could be an uncredited cameo, or just someone who sounds like him

For now he'll just have to put them in Carbonite and strap 'em to the back of the ship like Aunt Edna.

I'm guessing that the fighter will be used as a means to an end of acquiring a new Razor Crest or something similar, and that the fighter will be stored somewhere or (depending on the size of the new craft) docked with or within the new ship for use when needed.

They spent a lot of time building up this fighter as a hero vehicle (complete with Grogu bubble and Mando color scheme!) to just drop it right away, so I suspect it will stick around for a while, but yeah, it's not really practical for his line of work.

He said he had to "pay a visit to a little friend" before he helped Boba, so that's making me think we'll be seeing Grogu next episode or before the final episode, because Boba's battle with the Pykes is not going to be delayed until next season.

I'm really curious to see what Din had made for Grogu and I hope we don't have to wait until season 3 of The Mandalorian to find out.

The Armorer showed that she had forged some chainmail from the Beskar, so I think they made Grogu a little Mithril... sorry, Beskar chainmail onesie, possibly with a chainmail hoodie for his head and ears.

She asked him that before (On The Mandalorian) too, though. Their little cult of fanatics asks their people that a lot as a test of worthiness and righteousness to remain in the cult.

Plus, she asked both Din and Vizla the same question, so she wasn't singling Din out.

I had just hoped that Din would have grown a bit from his experiences and tell them it's a stupid policy and he doesn't care about being in the Mando Club any more, and that he took his helmet off to help complete the task of returning Grogu to the Jedi as she commanded. Plus, he just wants to eat a sandwich around the lunch table with other people sometimes. Is that too much to ask, stupid Armor fanatic lady?

I kept expecting him to explain that removing his helmet led to accomplishing his mission and with honor but Din is so dialed into the Foundling Code and the ways of the Armorer and Paz Viszla that even at that moment of truth he couldn't bring himself to make an excuse. He's that committed.

I'm pretty sure she knew what the other guy would answer and that question was meant for Din. Din was showing that he was wavering in the cause re: Grogu so I think that question was asked with intent to check his loyalty.
