Yes. In season 6 of Smallville.
Jonathon should know better to take meteor rock infused potions. He may not have abilities but it could still hurt him.

Well I am working and do not get to see it until tomorrow, so I read spoilers-

happy they used Bizarro and not Doomsday. This show had done a lot of bait and switch with the villains. They have been telling us it’s Doomsday so deliberately I suspected it would go somewhere else.

Glad they did. Bizarro is an actual character. Not an empty monster like Doomsday. No idea if they will go there but Lucy Lane was involved in his first comic book appearance

Bizarro appeared in several episodes of the Superboy live-action series. Pretty well done, actually. Supergirl also did a distaff version.

Distaff. Never heard of that word before.
Never seen the Superboy show. Is it good?

Season 2 - Episode 3 - "The Thing in the Mines"

    Clark/SM / Lois:
No matter the cause, Clark's attacks appear to be exacerbated by select emotional states, as if whatever is in the mines is steadily influencing him to go overboard at the slightest infraction.

You know he's in trouble if his own son had to send Clark home in a parental manner.

Lois' "don't go all doomsday on me.." Har-har. (SEE NOTES)

Irons was largely useless against "Bizarro/Kal/Doomsday" in the suit. If only he had that hammer that was designed to...you know....

Sam Lane: Sam's position on Lucy was not difficult to understand; Lois seems to think that he--as a parent--can forget his fears about a daughter he considered at risk coupled with past family history. There's no "do-overs" with death.

    Dr. Faulkner / Amertek:
For Faulkner to instantly assault Irons obviously meant she had inside information on his true identity/connections. If her benefactor is Anderson, then the sudden development of a quasi-Bizarro/Kal/Doomsday in the mines filled with a certain element, then it would point to Anderson attempting to create his own Superman. Then again, she could be partnered with Luthor...

    Irons / Natalie:
Natalie is still dealing with adjustment issues, but I guess her bonding with Jonathan and never hesitating to offer to rebuild Iron's suit means she's settling to the point where there won't be the need for "I'm still an outsider" sub-plots.

Jonathan / Candace: Interesting turn--Jonathan learns Timmy ingested--as Candace put it--some "crystal" substance which she sold him, but instead of admonishing her, he wants "in" on the drug. Yeah, half of this series is basic domestic drama, but I hope there's more to Jonathan's interest in the drug than simply being stronger on the field or still dealing with feelings of inadequacy due to having no Kryptonian powers. That would be rocketing into the eye-roll inducing A Very Special Episode / One to Grow On territory.

Jordan/Sarah: Jonathan and Natalie were flat out wrong about the "secrets" business--and how is Jonathan--of all people--not getting the risk factor? Telling Sarah something she should never know would place his entire family in danger--as Clark pointed out. Jordan...sigh. Regarding Jordan...sigh. Typical teen, he's letting his puppy love lead him into believing he wants to marry Sarah. ...and what will Clark think about Jordan giving a very special heirloom to Sarah?

So Sarah insists that kiss meant nothing and that she loves Jordan. Not the outcome some were hoping for, but for now, its a pleasant, partial resolution to their drama.

Lana/Kyle/Sarah: Lana's advice to Sarah was unwise; in any relationship, its not about one party completely accepting everything from the other, but trying to reach some point of understanding. Lana--perhaps influenced by alcohol--was telling Sarah to adopt a one-sided view of relationships, which works about as well as trying to balance a car on a wet slice of bread.

    NOTES:

The big bad does look like a less blocky version of Bizarro. I just hope he does not act like anything from the Weisinger era of the comics.

The showrunners certainly love ripping off the Cavill Superman's hovering-over-earth shots. Oh well, its not the only Man of Steel swipe. If you have to steal, steal from the best.

    GRADE: B.

Anyone notice that one of the musical cues used in this episode was very MoS?

I’m happy they closed the Jordan/Sarah story. Last thing we need is another Lana/Clark.

Really nice fake out with the big reveal of Bizarro. Much better than the Arrow fake out with Vigilante and Prometheus.

It's a shame Sam Lane had to cut short his trip to the green screen, er, lake.

This series has not been shy about copy+pasting from Man of Steel.

Same here, but there's still the matter of his going full steam ahead with his grandmother's necklace and wanting to go against Clark's wisdom about keeping the family secrets...secret.

Heh. I'm sure he will get right on that, just as he called all of the other Arrowverse superheroes he desperately needed during the Edge situation. Oh, wait...

I'm always surprised to see John and now Natalie not react differently to seeing Clark "lose control and show rage"

You would think given what they experienced with their Kal-El seeing that would cause a serious reaction.

They're damned good at these misdirections about the characters and villains. "Captain Luthor."

And could Irons/Steel be any more Iron Man?

    Who? :D

Exactly. This show does a poor job connecting with the larger universe.

Not missing it one bit. The tone of S&L is so different and the show's generally several notches above the Arrowverse.

True but I would imagine those characters would be written differently here. I can’t imagine Lex would be like the Supergirl version. Probably more like the Smallville one.

    It starts off bad.

    Really bad.

By season three it starts to seem worth it.
