So another take on Doomsday. I would love a more accurate portrayal of him. Unlikely since you would need a big budget.

Some people are, hence the reason Clark's talk with his sons--specifically Jonanthan--was quite sensible and understanding of how sexually motivated teenagers are--how they really act. That was one of the most realistic scenes in the series so far.

If that's the case. it might lead to Jordan becoming bitter and--like high-strung teens--want to cop a "just screw it / I don't need this" attitude and adopt some other behavior (defensively)--possibly wanting to follow/help his father too soon for his own good. On the other hand, a split could open the door for Jordan to become interested in Natalie, and unlike Sarah, Natalie is already "in" on the Kent's secret.

Excellent point, and the reason the Arrowverse is about as cohesive as a puzzle with half of its pieces missing, since each series picks and chooses what it acknowledges from other series, and leaves glaring holes (that should not exist) elsewhere. As I pointed out yesterday, this meta program seems too close to the dominant arc of Black Lightning, and since that series' A.S.A. was a branch of the U.S. government and harvesting / developing metas. No matter how covert the A.S.A. was to the general public, the D.O.D.--with its all too similar program--would be aware of a program of that magnitude, or it should (at least) be referred to, otherwise, it gives the impression that there's meta development programs on every street corner, and conveniently, no one branch is aware of the other.

Pretty good premiere. I wasn't sure how I felt about the tension between Lois and Clark at first, but it turned out pretty well.

And yes, it's pretty obvious that Sarah met someone new at camp. If that's a cliche, it's because it's something that happens all the time with young people. I wonder if it was a boy or a girl.

Although I still have a really hard time believing these kids are 15.

Nice to see Ian Bohen as the new military liaison. He was excellent back in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys as Young Hercules in flashback episodes, not only convincing as a young Kevin Sorbo but a really good actor. (Unfortunately, I think he decided not to sign on for the Young Hercules spinoff, so they replaced him with Ryan Gosling, who hardly looked anything like Sorbo and was, at the time, a really bad actor.) Although I wouldn't have recognized him if I hadn't seen his name in the credits. His face seems squarer now.

Supergirl doesn't have a history with the DOD, while Superman does, through General Lane. It's no surprise that Anderson might see Superman as "his" to recruit while recognizing that Supergirl is not a good candidate.

I would love it if that were the case.

That's right out of the original Death of Superman story. Doomsday was introduced as a mysterious suited figure punching its way out from deep underground, and its containment suit was only gradually torn away over the course of its initial fights, delaying the reveal of Doomsday's full appearance.

An accurate portrayal of Doomsday is the last thing I'd want, because Doomsday was one of the lamest villains ever, nothing but brute force with no personality or motivation. That would be boring as hell in a television series. Heck, it was boring in the comics. (I always felt that if anyone was going to kill Superman, it should've been Lex Luthor using some intricate master plan to outsmart and outmaneuver him, not just some literally mindless slab of muscle punching him to death. Going that route was just so... nineties.)

Elizabeth Tulloch is fast becoming my favorite live-action Lois Lane. She's the show's MVP for sure in a cast that's pretty spectacular.

And is it just me or did the show Chuck Cunningham Lana's other daughter?

Fast becoming, nothing. For me, she's long since there.

Well yes. I still hold Phyllis Coates as my favorite live-action Lois because she was didn't take any shit and was believable as a hard-as-nails reporter. However, Tulloch's Lois is right up there. And she's fantastic.

Wasn't she on the list of people happy Sarah was back?

It may be so, but I doubt that the writers have any intention of being definitive about it. It mostly plays as a good-humored dig on Jonathan's part at ol' straight-arrow Superdad. taking him down a peg. It's the way the three of them relate to one another that makes it so delightful.

Lois has a houseful to contend with.

Except Natalie and Jordan, at least on a biological level, are related.

Can we say that? Natalie was the child of a Lois from another world, and has no direct connection to main Earth's Lois.

So what are the rules on hooking up with your sorta half sister born to an alternate universe version of your mother?

It all comes down to DNA at the end. Is Natalie's Mother the same DNA as this Lois? Is the other Lois basically like Lois' identical twin in terms of DNA, a clone in terms of DNA, or just not related at all?

I'd find the last not possible since somehow in that other world Lois has the same Father (and presumably Mother) who then created the Lois of that world.

There was a line in season 2 of the Flash where Harry Wells says any tests done on him to confirm his identity would be identical to the Harrison Wells of Earth 1, so it seems safe to assume doppelgängers that look identical share identical DNA.

Of course. The idea is that they're the same person in alternate timelines, just different ways their lives could've gone. Although the Arrowverse complicated that when it folded in different screen adaptations with different actors playing the characters at different ages, like Brandon Routh and Tom Welling. Doppelgangers that different probably wouldn't have the same DNA -- though Black Lightning offered a good handwave for how that might be, when the change in Jennifer's appearance was explained as the same DNA being expressed differently through epigenetic factors. (And yes, I know that was a misdirect, but the science is feasible, as much as anything in this fantasy universe.)

    I so love this show!

Lois as a mass of confused emotions and taking it out on everyone around her resonated with me deeply. It also sounds like she was sexually active fairly young, so having a little panic there didn't surprise me; she just went way over the top because of the underlying stuff.

I know that Lois relating things back to her mother leaving felt off to some of you, but trust me, deep-seated feelings of pain, un-wantedness, and vulnerability are what lies beneath a lot of stupid things people do. I've been figuring this out myself in therapy for months.

Again, I adore the Clark and Lana relationship here. I find it refreshing to see a man and a woman who are married to other people and still have a terrific friendship, without any kind of goofy jealousy subplots. And, they took each other's advice, to the good of their marriages! Also, I thought Lana was going to run for mayor herself, and was a little disappointed that isn't so (so far).

On seeing Anderson's cronies with the "S" on their chests, I yelled, "Get his family crest off of there!"

I'm guessing you aren't married.

Hubby and I both thought the same. OR a month away from him made her realize she doesn't love him like that. Either way, poor kid's gonna get his heart broken. :weep:

What does one call a Lt. General IRL? I figured that's just how one is addressed.

Huh. That's what my hubby thought, but I wasn't sure as I wasn't reading the comic in that period.

Agreed! I'm curious to see what they do here.

It was a real quick reference to her when they first picked Sarah up at the bus station, so it was easy to miss.
I take it you didn't watch Teen Wolf, which starred Tyler Hoechlin in the first 4 seasons and featured Ian Bohen in a recurring role in the 1st - 4th and 6th seasons. Loved that show, and eagerly anticipating the movie sequel they're working on.

This was a great start to the season.
I was a little annoyed with the relationship drama between Lois & Clark at first, but it actually worked out pretty good in the end.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks Sara met someone else at camp.
Anderson and his super team seems like they should be interesting complications.
For a second when Lana & Clark were discussing their marriage issues and broke out the wine, I was afraid we were going to get a drunken hook up, and I'm very glad they didn't go that route.
I'm assuming whatever is happening to Clark's powers is related to Doomsday.
So it looks like we're getting a new version of Death of Superman? I haven't read the comics, but from what I've seen online the issues leading up the miniseries ended with a fist punching through rock like we saw here. Definitely curious to see what their take on Doomsday will be like.
If they go so far as the kill Superman, I wonder if that will be what finally motivates Jordan to become Superboy? It'll also be interesting to see what role Anderson's Super team plays in the story, since I don't think there was a group like that in Death or Reign of the Supermen.
