Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

Even if they're not sharing the screen, it's a tad unfair to show a lot of previous actors when the new actor is trying to establish themselves. A former companion or two on the other hand might be a tad easier, although given it's Russell I think we all know who that might be! (and I guess you can't have her without her human copy of you know who 10.5)

It would be great if the 60th was a "The Six Companions" special with Jo, Peri, Ace, Martha, Ryan and Dan sorting something out in the Doctor's absence but running into multiple docs in blink and miss them cameos.

I remember the cringe of watching Capaldi having to stand there as Smith begs everyone to please like the new actor that has taken over ther role, and it was horrible and i doubt Capaldi was happy with it happening at the time, so i am not up for this kind of hand over in anyway, just regen the old actor out of the way and let the new actor take center stage as it is their show now, and they should be given the time to make the role their own without having to get previous doctor actors in to take away from the new one.

I really don't think a very short cameo amounts to what you're describing here.

I agree with that. That's what led me to pondering the possibility of retaining Whittaker for the 60th Anniversary special as the current Doctor. She could regenerate at the end of that. That's probably unlikely although it seems doable. Apparently, Whittaker was pleased the RTD gave her his phone number and that she'd be happy to return to the show in some capacity.

Outside that, I'm guessing the 60th won't have past Doctors. Or perhaps in a limited capacity.

Not that I'm entertaining what is likely a bullshit rumor, but I wouldn't rule out the idea that they might decide to copy what they did with the 50th and bring in a high profile actor as a previously unknown Doctor. Indeed, now that we have the Timeless Child storyline establishing the existence of an unknown number of pre-Hartnell Doctors, they don't have to worry about figuring out where to fit such a Doctor in the order of the others.

I hadn't thought of that before but that's an excellent point. Undoubtedly, we'll see that in the future, even if it doesn't happen for the 60th anniversary.
