Challenger - Phase II/TMP Era sets

@ashefivekay - Wonderful renders. The bridge translated very well to Daz/iRay :techman: How long does it take to render one image?

Really depends on how many characters are visible in the scene in DAZ. I've kept the resolution on the outfits within reason and most of the set is all geometry and lighting that way. Just a couple of characters and it's about 20 minutes. A whole bunch and we're up to an hour or more.

I'm also running this on a 4 or 5 year old graphics card at this point as well. So that's eating into the render times

Wow! Yeah I know those render times too.

This all looks really wonderful. I used Truespace as well as well as Caligari back in my Amiga days. I eventually moved onto Carrara but never got the hang of Blender despite its power. I keep promising myself that I'll tackle Blender someday as it could really be an asset in the type of work I do. Unfortunately, no matter how much I've tried I get stuck then lose interest.

Enough of me though. I really like the whole Phase II approach. The empty bridge looks a bit bland but definitely comes to life once it's populated with characters. Speaking of which, I also like the different types of characters you've put in not to mention that their poses all look very natural. Great work and thank you for sharing.

Really nice work, you've got your own unique style which is really nice. :techman::mallory:

Thank you!

I started off in Truespace 3 and was using it up until it quit working on my desktop computer last year. Or was that this year? I don't remember anymore. Anyway, I jumped into Blender with Blender For Artists 2 which works ALOT like Truespace. There are some nice tutorials out there. Started off building the TOS Enterprise and kind of went from there with what I remembered from Truespace. I'm now a full fledged B4A convert. Can even import my old Truespace stuff into Blender so it's not lost which is nice but I usually end up updating them.

Thank you for the input on the sets too! =)

I remember trying to get a handle on Caligari towards the end of my classes at Algonquin Animation. I never got a handle on it, and my employment history has thus far diverted me away from ever following up with successor-software tech properly...

Huh...how did I not know about this? I'm downloading Blender for Artists now to try it out for myself. Thank you for mentioning this!

Challenger Construction Supervisor Log, Stardate 5786.03. Engineer Kith ch'Ramai reporting.

After her test run on the engines and weapons systems, Challenger has again been berthed at Dock 329 here at the Andor Shipyards. Everything has checked out, and while the yard administrator hasn't told me who the Captain will be just yet, I know that the selection has been made and they are on their way. While the main systems are in, we're going to spend the next 7 months loading the ship out with proper decks, rooms, proper wall plating, the auxiliary systems, and all the creature comforts currently available for a crew who's going to be out in the edge of Federation space for 8 years.

While she carries the name of an Earth vessel, one of their original exploration ships from almost 300 years ago, Challenger represents the best of current technology throughout the Federation. Those fools at the fleet don't know what they're passing up with this version of the Constitution class. Granted, having gotten a look at the refit options for the existing ships that Sector 001 is churning out, I see what they're thinking. But that pretty design has one problem, not enough Andorians involved with their potential construction.

Supervisor Kith out.

Regula Station by Rick "Hobbes" Snider
Rendered in Blender for Artists 2

The only model I really modified in this beyond coloring is the DEFIANT Refit. I won't list all the changes but the bones are definitely still the original mesh.
