Yup. It's not going to go out with a whimper.Main reason I dont think its ending is modern shows absolutely love bigging up the "final season" for the ratings. I see no reason to leave people hanging if CBS/Para know its the end.

The Expanse is on its "final season" even though we know there are 3 books worth of stuff if someone else wants to take it up
Be pretty fucking weird if the show was canceled after this was published today, but hey, anything's possible.
The most watched original series on Paramount+ in 2021 was one of the service’s oldest titles, CBS All Access carryover Star Trek: Discovery.
One of the cast members of the Expanse has hinted that the story may eventually continue in other forms. (I'm guessing Amazon original movies) And with the eventual gap of years in the story line, it's not a bad idea.Main reason I dont think its ending is modern shows absolutely love bigging up the "final season" for the ratings. I understand that but my point is that studios these days don't pass up a chance for a "final season" media bomb. Disco will not just get cancelled the way stuff like Firefly used toI'm guessing the main reason they are ending it now is the difference in time scale between the novelverse and the books becomes more and more apparent over time. The Roci crew are supposed to be late middle age (even given anti-aging medicines) by the end of the series, but obviously the cast is still pretty young.
Y'all gotta stop paying attention to Youtube wannabes and places that just throw out predictions every hour hoping that one of them stick. Discovery isn't going anywhere for a while.

Thank the Great Bird that conversations have never gone slightly off track on this forum. And The Expanse ending is relevant to Discovery because...?
Funny you mention that whispering stuff because I’ve been watching a lot of episodes of Law and Order SVU and I’ve noticed how much Olivia Benson whispers on that show. I’ve been watching that show for a long time and never noticed that before. The show was already cancelled. It's just taking along time to die. Like another franchise with a star named Michael. That of course being Halloween. Just when you think it's over and it's safe to turn on the tv again, Burnham shows up with another whispering speech.
Because I pointed it out as an example of how TV execs love a "final season" for the publicity. There is a little arrow on all reply posts that link to the OP in case you are confusedAnd The Expanse ending is relevant to Discovery because...?
I don't mean to be a stick in the mud but both comments were non-sequitur, not even starting on the thread's track to begin with.Thank the Great Bird that conversations have never gone slightly off track on this forum.
Fair enough. Being off the rails would imply I was ever near themI don't mean to be a stick in the mud but both comments were non-sequitur, not even starting on the thread's track to begin with.
What about this thought?
Could the show undergo a name change for next year? It’s not being billed as the final season, but I think it could leave the Discovery moniker behind.
Consider: They’re setting things up with Zora this season. What if the DMA “destroys” Discovery, or so the crew thinks, but in reality, it’s badly damaged (a la the USS Stargazer). The crew abandons ship and continues their adventures on the USS Voyager-J while Zora and the DOTs repair Discovery and it sits for a while until Craft finds it.
Just a random thought on a Monday morning.
Shows can't change their titles like that, otherwise it legally becomes a different show and the season and episode count has to reset to 1. That's why Stargate SG-1 had to abandon their plans of changing their title to Stargate Command for their ninth season. In other words if such a name change were being planned, that would still make this season the final season of Star Trek Discovery and the next season would have to be season 1 of a whole new show. Shows can only get away with minor changes to their titles while still legally staying the same show, like when Enterprise changed its title to Star Trek Enterprise in its third season, or how NCIS gradually shortened its title over the course of the series, where when it started it was actually called Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service and it's now just called NCIS.What about this thought?
