As much as some of us have been Jonesing for the return of Firefly, this news not really anything to celebrate IMO.

If it would have been a continuation with the original actors and storyline then...yah! But not another @#&*$! reboot/remake and all on a channel that will require one to pay out just to see a watered down Disneyfied version of what was once a gritty show geared towards adults.
I had read an article some time ago about a reconsideration of Firefly and obviously written to appeal to the SJW crowd that criticized the original show for such crimes as Mal's negative opinions of Inara's profession and using cultural appropriation due to the characters sometimes cursing in Chinese and how if the show were made today it wouldn't fly. I have no doubt the author was correct and the above article's speculation that the new version will be "family-friendly" I believe will also be true and take a lot away from what made the original so great.
Either way, I'm tired of this "everything old is new again" reboot/remake epidemic, whether it is movies or TV shows, as very, very few rise even close to the level of the original, let alone succeed it. In fact, off the top of my head, only the remake Lost in Space has been one of those rare exceptions in recent times. Wish I was more optimistic when I saw this, but I can say with confidence I won't be shelling out money to Disney to see it (especially given I'd have to first start wasting money for basic cable again before even adding plus channels).
Anyone have a different take and excited to hear this or do you feel "Meh" as well?
