Should they kill a main character like Saru this year?

While that's clearly where the "tell" of the intro is heading, this would be dangerous territory, given the series literally began with Michael being responsible for the death of Captain Georgiou. It's not like she's a stranger to trauma - even trauma which is directly the result of her own actions. The writers would have to be quite careful to showcase that it happening again reflects a different person with different responses.

    I certainly hope
    the Admiral's family
wasn't brought in to be redshirts... If anyone gets killed,
    maybe the Presidet gets assassinated.

I think there will be further casualties in season 4 including in the supporting cast whether that be the members of the Disco crew or the Starfleet Command staff we’ve met. The cast listed in the opening credits will likely not be amongst them (except perhaps one in the finale. But I’d be beyond shocked if it was Burnham).

I could see the President dying in the middle of the season. The second act of a story is when the shit starts hitting the fan. This is when the Burnham character should be at her low point in the season. You then have her climb back out of it to overcome her failures or flaws to eventually save the day or find herself.

Something was mentioned that Disco will be changing captains again this year.
This could mean that Michael B. will be killed (which seems unlikely), or she may just end up becoming the UFP president.

Lol... but, it wouldn't surprise me if she decides to step down for Saru and due to shortage of captains, she (or Saru) need to take command of newly upgraded USS Voyager.

Though to be fair, I was hoping either Saru would become Voyager's captain, or the Doctor would/could make an appearance as her captain (though this seems doubtful).

they should bring back Mudd one last time. Guy gets around. There are treaties in place to stop time travel, but what's to stop a motivated Mudd. Then kill him.

You don't need time travel to end up in the future - just a cryosleep pod.

If they were going to kill off any DISCO characters the ones that would have the biggest impact would be Burnham, Saru, and Tilly, and then Stamets and then on down the line. I'm leaving Culber out of it because I don't think they would kill him twice. That said, since so many of these characters have been underdeveloped and the series is now evolving into an ensemble show, I don't think it would be good to kill any of them off until we get to know them. That was one of the mistakes with killing off Airiam and having the crew grieve but we as viewers really couldn't because we didn't know the character, so it felt like a disconnect. There was a bit of that as well when Emperor Georgiou left. We hadn't really seen her bond with many of the crew so why were so many of them sad that she was gone?

If anything instead of killing any one off I think writing them off-like they did Nhan-with the potential to bring them back-is a better option. It could shake things up, while expanding on the new galaxy the series is creating (and also exploring). Instead of Saru returning to Discovery I wish he had taken command of another starship so we could see another starship/crew. (Though really I think it would've been better if Burnham decided not to be captain and instead lived with Book, with the destruction of their planet (note I said their because I would've had her living with him after Season 3), brings them back to working with the Federation. I don't think Burnham's first, best destiny was command. That's what Georgiou wanted for her, but Burnham's temperament and actions belie sitting in the captain's chair. I sort of wish they had had Burnham realize that she didn't really want to be captain after all and reject the offer. That she had found what she wanted/needed, with Book, and they could go out still saving endangered species while working freelance for the Federation and as unofficial ambassadors for them. The captaincy feels more like an end goal for Saru than Burnham IMO; I don't have a problem with Captain Burnham per se, but I don't know how organic it feels to the character we first met in the DISCO pilot).

If a character is going to be killed off, I see it being Book. I don't want that to happen, however, he's not a part of the DISCO crew, he's not even in Starfleet. He doesn't have a planet anymore, and no family-outside of Burnham now-so his loss could be played for a lot of drama and turmoil for Burnham this season or the rest of DISCO's run. He's been well established-more so than most of the DISCO regulars-so his loss would have an emotional effect on the crew but also the audience. I love Burnham and Book together-the best Trek relationship since Sisko and Kassidy, but I could see them sacrificing him-unfortunately-for dramatic effect. They can't allow Burnham to be happy for too long.

Was she really? She was often insulting to many of them, so we didn't see them bond on the level where they would really feel bad about her leaving, except for Burnham. Now I can accept that with them all feeling closer due to them going into the future, but still, we didn't see enough positive bonding between Emperor Georgiou and the rest of the crew.

It's not a matter of interaction. It's a matter of shared pain. At least in my experience it doesn't matter how you interact with a person during a shared intense emotional moment (or twelve). Once you a part of the group you are regarded as part of that group, regardless of interactivity. Perhaps others have differing experiences but that was my own experience, which I would certainly not equate to the intensity of abandoning everything you know to protect your time.

For me Airiam dying wasn't so much about Airiam or any emotional attachment to her but it was a great chance to learn more about the rest of the crew
