I agree but if the fans don't like it you got to factor that in the equation. Kennedy is someone though who should have a better idea on what fans want and then find artist who able to do that while also being fresh enough to appeal to new fans as well. This Patti Jenkins movie on the surface sounded like it could be awesome. A movie about fighter jets by a Director who has a emotional connection to the story. While also being a chance to do the first SW movie with a female director who already has a big win with Wonder Woman. How one fucks that up is unknown.

Simple-Patti didn't get along with a member of the crew. There are always the potential for personality conflicts within these creative enterprises.

Honestly, at this point, with Star Wars fans, I would say no, no you don't. Star Wars fans have demonstrated an increased callous disregard for the production teams, including with Lucas himself.

I honestly think that Kennedy was trying to give directors a little more creative freedom within the confines of the franchise and that completely backfired in terms of output and fan response. At this point I think that Lucasfilms needs to set a creative course and go forward with it and the fans can think whatever they want, because they will not be satisfied any more.

You seem to be jumping to a lot of conclusions about things that we really can't know about without actually taking part in the meetings that are happening at Lucasfilm.
I find it interesting that people keep having a fit and wanting Kathleen Kennedy fired whenever a director leaves a Star Wars movie, but whenever this happens at Marvel or one of the other studios nobody wants to see Kevin Feige or whoever is in charge of the other studios to be fired.
Netflix chased Brian Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino off of the Last Airbender live action series, and I don't remember anyone wanting to see Ted Sarandos fired over that.
These kinds of things are so insanely complicated that I don't think it's really fair to lay all of the blame at Kathleen Kennedy's feet without knowing exactly what happened with the people who have left the movies.

The difference is Feige has a track record of making some really good movies and turning the MCU into this big deal that never really existed in movie history before. With Kennedy the Prequels made money but are not beloved by most fans. This drama with Directors come aboard only be fired seems endless.

I look at it like a sports coach. The coach is hired is qualified for the job but for whatever reason he is not able to really win the Super Bowl. Maybe he has gotten the team to the playoffs a few times but the team he coaches has a tradition of winning a lot. People expects to the team not just be okay but great and if the coach can't do it then it's time to get a new coach. Then the old coach can then move on and maybe find success they didn't with that team. Kennedy IMO is someone who if fired would land in another high profile job. Maybe even have success in that job but she has simply not done a great job in charge of SW.

I have noticed they are about to hire her for another 3 years. So I guess Disney is happy. I think maybe Disney simply doesn't care about making Star Wars movies at this point. Looks like another 3 years at least before a new one is made so maybe they are just content with the tv stuff at this point. Though part of me wonders if they are just waiting for the right time to turn Star Wars over to Feige.

Or Bob Chapek wants to fast track the Feige Star Wars movie with Taika Waititi. Chapek could be the reason this movie was cancelled as well. Get ride of the movie being made by Kennedy. Give her 3 years of just doing tv. Meanwhile the movie will be done by going around her with Feige and Waititi.

This whole thing with Kennedy is like the perfect microcosm of the current sociopolitical climate.

I saw a YT today where this person went on a massive temper tantrum over her extension, followed by one of similar length over the official canceling of the Johnson project. This same person has been scathing over the years when it comes to TLJ. And I've seen similar reactions all over the internet the last few days. Do people just not think this shit through?

Or do they think that with all the bad Star Wars made over the last years she's been constantly there mother-henning every single thing that goes on and all the good Star Wars has been made while she's out to lunch?

She gets the blame because she is in charge. That doesn't mean everything that goes wrong is her fault but people look to people in charge when things aren't working. It's no different than why people vote people out when they don't like what the government is doing or wants the football coach to be fired when the team isn't winning or why people want someone like Rick Berman to move on when they stop liking the product. It simply comes with the territory.

If more people had liked the Sequels people would be talking a different game. I mean people would complain because complaining and nitpicking is something people just do but people would also roll with stuff they don't like because they in the end have trust in people running things. Of course you also can't have to many failures even with success because sooner or later it becomes, what have you done for me lately. That was why people turned on George Lucas. Of course it's been awhile now so time has passed and they are ready to forgive and want him to do more Star Wars but that could just as easily go away again if he made another SW movie people didn't like.

No, they don't think it through. They hold Kennedy responsible for all the failures, even when other evidence is out there. And no success can be attributed without basically being considered an outlier, or diminishing the success in some way. Favreau and Filoni get all the accolades, while Kennedy is completely disregarded as part of the process. Complete cognitive distortions.

It would go away. Fans are not kind to Lucas.

The first Wonder Woman was pretty good, though the third act (specifically the fight with Ares) was a bit of a mess and the Germans of World War 1 acting like Nazis was stupid.
Wonder Woman 1984 is one of the worst blockbuster movies I've ever seen and I'm still baffled as to how it turned out so bad.

These are my opinions which make them facts.

I liked Wonder Woman 1984. It's not perfect but I liked how they had a bad guy who wasn't all bad and I just liked seeing Wonder Woman and Trevor back in action again.

A certain segment of the fandom keeps blaming Kathleen Kennedy for all of the problems, but the fact that it's creative issues makes me wonder if it's other people. I've always had the impression that Kennedy was more of a business person, and not a creative, all of her credits on Wikipedia are producer credits, with no writing or even story credits on any of the movies she's worked on.
Yes, I know producers do get the final say over what goes in the movies, but if she was really that involved with the creative side of the movies, I would at least expect her to get some story credits.
And to be honest, I'd rather see the people who are in charge of the creative side of the franchise be willing to set something aside or bring in someone new if they don't like what where things are going, than see them just let everyone come in and do whatever the hell they want.

I think she is more of a business type as well but it's the creative types she keeps firing or letting go in the directors. I do think though also that even though she isn't a creative type she is not hands off except with Faverau. I still think of her much like RIck Berman who also wasn't a creative type but had plenty of bad ideas like not wanting good music and stuff like that in Trek. I think Chapak though changes things someone and it's possible he might end up causing just as much if not more problems then her.

My theory right now is Chapak is to scared to fire her because of fan outrage but to afraid to let her make another movie also because of fan outrage. So he extends her contract by 3 years where she can focus on the tv stuff Faverau isn't connected to. Like the upcoming Obi-Wan show for example. Meanwhile he puts Feige in charge of making the next SW movie. Which I guess will be directed by Waititi. Nobody will complain about that. Everyone wins except maybe Kennedy has a bruised ego by having a movie taken away from her but the big money she gets from the 3 year extension helps make that pain go down better.

No one can say you can't find it boring, but calling it a "remake" of Captain America or implying that it's nothing but a derivative knockoff of it is counterfactual nonsense.

I can't really see them firing Kennedy when the franchise is still as successful as it is, money is always the bottom line, and the franchise is still bringing in mountains of money under her control. And even if some of the reactions to the movies haven't been spectacular, people are stll going to see them, so they are still bringing in mountains of money. The TV side on the other hand, has been a huge success, with Rebels, The Mandalorian, the final season of The Clone Wars, and The Bad Batch all being very popular, but critically, and with fans.
My theory tends to lean more towards the directors and people that have left being uncooperative. Remember, Patty Jenkins also left Thor: The Dark World over creative differences, so this isn't the first time she's left a big franchise project.
Directors are used to having complete creative control when they are doing their own movies, so I can see where it would be a bit frustrating for them to suddenly find themselves having to follow someone else's stories and ideas. So I think it's mostly just two groups of people with their own ideas of what they want to do, and neither of them being willing to back down.

Johnson does deserve lots of blame but the bigger mistake was not having those movies more planned out from the start. That and they didn't give the fans the one thing they wanted most and that was seeing the old gang together one last time before moving onto to new characters.

She probably turned in her script for the movie, the suits had some ideas of there own, they tried to compromise, but the director might have been like, to much, I wanted to make a movie with X,Y, and Z in it, but they don't want it that way. SO the director is like, fine, I understand its a give and take, but if your not giving anything, I'm out.
I think thats what happened with Colin, Gave a script, and they didn't like it, so he was like, fine, do it without me.
