Loved it! - as much as the Timeless Child revelation was not for all (personally I don't mind it at all), it certainly has led us to a place where I have no idea what the outcome of this series/arc will be. Been a while since I've been this excited for a new episode!!! - Is it Monday yet?

Well, that was fun. Much better paced than the first episode. And for the first time in a long time, Thirteen felt in command and proactive.

Of course they still had to upstage her by Dan, hadn't they? He sure transitioned instantly from "everday nice guy" to superhero. And they didn't really do much with Yaz. The "WWTDD" thing was a nice touch, though. My only other complaint is that the music was far "too much" and too loud at times. Or maybe it was the audio mix.

Vinder I liked right away, but then I like Jacob Anderson. I initially thought he was a time lord, but probably not.

I called it when I saw the photos for this ep: Yaz and Vinder are totally going to be a thing.

Oh, and I just love Carvinista. Speaking of which... I guess Yaz' bonded specimen didn't get the memo?

"Sonta-Ho!"
"I still got a human in this fight!"

That was a bunch of fun! Two in a row! Agree with other comments that I wish CC and JW would've started their era like this.

I suspect that we're getting hints at how Time Lord society started. How they actually became Time Lords with their regenerations, time travel, and fob watches. That they picked up the pieces of technology and DNA from an earlier conflict, which includes the TC.

Well, I knew more then 1 good episode was too much to ask for. I'm glad I read this thread and found out about the horrendous "time controlling" aliens, so I didn't waste my time watching the episode. Chibnall really loathes Doctor Who entirely, I don't think even Michael Grade had such obvious hatred for the franchise. Luckily the Den of Geek review was an in depth synopsis, so I won't miss anything by not actually watching the episode (not that there is much to miss apparently, except more ruining of the franchise and a lot of boring crap involving Dan).

RTD is going to have the hardest job of possibly any TV writer ever trying to save this franchise. Outside of writing something kind of lazy, like having the entire 13th Doctor era be the result of an elaborate plan by The Master (or some other Doctor Who villain), this is going to be rough to fix.

Uh, no? I don't have to watch it to critique it. I read an in depth review about the events of the episode (which I did after reading this thread and finding out about the new time controlling aliens bullshit), and thats all that matters when it comes to me forming my opinion. The episode was so bad that I'm glad I got warned ahead of time and didn't bother to watch it. A few minutes of reading an in depth synopsis/review was a lot quicker then watching 45+ minutes of garbage.

Once you say your critiquing a show WITHOUT watching it (or any plans to watch it), your opinion is invalidated. You CAN'T critique something you haven't seen/heard/experienced. Going by hearsay is a ridiculous excuse. JMO

hmmm, didn’t work for me as well as some but whatever, four more to go. I do like Swarm and Azure for being different and being oddly suave despite looking like glammed up outcasts from Mars Attacks. “Planet Time”, Crimea, sigh... here’s hoping episode three gets me back.

Guys, just ignore @kirk55555. His so-called opinions are nothing more than irrelevant noise.

As far as the episode goes, this is honestly the best thing that Doctor Who has done with the Sontarans ever, and could very conceivably be the last time we ever see them, which I'd be fine with because I'm not sure how you'd top this story.

We also got some more great stuff with Yaz, Dan, and Karvanista, some really interesting new time-related lore, and a pretty compelling cliffhanger that I'm dying to see the resolution of.

I voted last week's episode as a 9, and this one gets a 9 as well.

This. I'm curious if we'll ever get any clue about why Yaz doesn't seem to have a doggo guardian. Even just a throwaway line or something.

Yeah, it would be extremely easy to do. "Why don't I have a guardian?" "You must have been off-world when we counted the population and assigned guardians."

Not bad. Whittaker is excellent - what a pity she didn't have better material to work with during her tenure. Really liked Sara Powell as Mrs Seacole, and brilliant to see another historical figure treated respectfully (cf Rosa Parks). Shame Yaz remains underused and underdeveloped - one of the real disappointments / lost opportunities of this era.

Will be beyond disgusted if Swarm turns out to be the damned Master, but whoever he and Azure turn out to be they're suitably creepy and evil.

The Sontaran chanting was utterly stupid and pathetic in the same way the new Who pseudo-Cybermen lockstep marching is utterly stupid and pathetic (IMO, anyway). Otherwise it was good to see them again, and the reference to Linx was a nice touch.

Yeah, not bad.

Which was so obvious I didn't even think anyone needed to worry about it. Clearly the Lupari are saving humanity at a set point in history, and Yaz is usually NOT at a set point in history.

Man, Chibnall really doesn't know what to do with Yaz. Even when she's running circles around Vinder (I call him Tinder) she still comes off short from the three, spending half her time asking What Would The Doctor Do, and then... ending up as the Damsel in Distress anyway. I hate that.

But hey, let's focus on Dan instead, who so far has been a collection of dad jokes, all equally awkward and unfunny.

At the very least, the one bright spot of both episodes so far has been Whittaker. I liked when I rewatched her two series, but thought she was probably the weakest of all the Doctors to date. But if this keeps up, she might rise above John Hurt at least, cause this series is the first time I have felt I'm watching her as the Doctor. She finally inhabits the role, and what a treat. It helps, of course, that she commands the story for the first time and actually propels the action forward. Very good, looking forward to more of that.

Just when I think Kirk 55555(how many 5s?) can't get any more ridiculous they manage to plumb the depths. I don't know what would be worse, that they're deliberately trolling us or they genuinely feel this way?

I wouldn't quite go that far but this comes pretty close. The Time Warrior is excellent, and I really did love Strax, but other than that this is the most enjoyable Sontarans have been by far.

Her guardian is presumably in orbit with the rest of the doggos. You could just as easily ask where the guardians of those three humans executed by the Sontarans were?

Yeah there have been flashes but she really has been let down by the writing at times. She was excellent in this.

Agreed - and far better late than never. Thank God she's finally starting to shine.
